I am grateful to Mr. Ray Sherry, our parish business manager, for all of his help in keeping track of the finances for the parish and the school. I am also very much appreciate the help and guidance of the members of the Parish Finance Council who meet with me monthly to review the financial statement for the previous month and look over the fund balance sheet. They also help me to make prudenal judgments about proceeding with repairs and improvements that may be bid in the middle of winter but not paid for un l the end of summer. I also appreciate all of you who so faithfully support the work we do at St. Francis Xavier through your offertory giving. I do appreciate your help in making it possible. You may have read on the parish’s Facebook page that I have decided to hold off on the West Ves bule project un l the Spring. Ideally, the plan was to begin the construc on as soon as the parking lot work was completed. There were a number of delays and setbacks that pushed the me to begin work into October. The bids also came in considerably higher than ancipated. Some of the contractors were confident that the work would be done by Christmas. Honestly, I did not want a nailbi ng fall and early winter worrying about its mely comple on. That entrance needs to be accessible for when the crowds are the heaviest. So the consensus of the Buildings and Grounds Commi ee was to rebid the project in January with a start date right a er Easter on April 6, 2015. This addi onal me will allow us to go over the plans and drawings in more detail to make sure it’s what we want. It will also allow for a pre-bid mee ng with interested contractors.
