A Stewardship Moment
Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Chris an stewardship begins with the call to discipleship and
today’s readings offer three stories about discipleship. In the
Gospel, John the Bap st points to Jesus and two of his followers immediately walk a er Jesus. Jesus asks them: “What are
you looking for?” It is a very good ques on to ask of ourselves.
What is it that we are looking for in Christ Jesus? What is it that
we want by following Him? Is it that we desire most urgently to
be servants, stewards, of the Lord? Or do we want something
else?
Feasts of Judaism
This Lent spend some time learning about the feasts of
Judaism using a threshold bible study by Stephen Binz. Join a
Lent faith sharing group to discuss how these feasts influenced our Catholic faith. Lent begins February 18. Groups
meet once a week for about 2 hours. If you are already in a
group, please contact your facilitator to let them know you
want to continue in the group. If you are new or want to
change groups please contact me.
You can email at [email protected] , or call or
text me, Chelly Bergman, at 330-461-0365
Respect Life Mee ng
The Respect Life Ministry will hold their monthly meeting
Tuesday evening at 7pm on Jan. 27th in the Rectory.
We will review upcoming respect life events and Steve Hamilton will be speak about the DC Bus trip. Hope to see you there!
If you have any questions please contact Renea LaGuardia

As we settle back into Ordinary Time after this Christmas
Season, I do want to thank again all those who helped us to mobilize for the celebration of the Lord’s Nativity. Members of the
Knights of Columbus assembled and took down the outdoor
Christmas Creche in front of the church. Members of the Art
and environment Committee are responsible for the not only
setting up the beautiful greens and poinsettias, Christmas trees
and crèche inside but also cleaning it all up and putting it back in
storage. I am sure that many of you appreciate their hard work.
There is always an excitement and anticipation getting it set up,
but much less so putting it all away. I am interested to see how
long it takes for the tree in the Rectory living room to disappear.
For those who are less motivated to clean it all up, or for the
old timers, you may be consoled that the Vatican maintains a
Pre-vatican II tradition of leaving the Christmas Creche up until
the 2nd of February, the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord.
At the Second Vatican Council, the Christmas Season was shortened by ending it with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.
