Communion by walking in the procession, please inform the
Eucharistic Minister Captain by the statue of the Risen Jesus
in the back of the Church prior to Mass and Holy
Communion will be served to them at their seat. We

Welcome – at the 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM Masses.

Two weeks ago we, The Order of the Sisters of the Company of Mary our Lady,
introduced ourselves to you. As time permits we will continue sharing our rich history as
a Religious Order. Jeanne de Lestonnac, from Bordeaux, France, seeing that there were
no schools for girls, founded our Order in 1607 with the mission to educate girls. On
May 15, 1949, she was canonized a saint by Pope Pius XII. At the heart of our mission,
or charism, is the service of a faith that bears fruit in works of jus ce through
educa on.
We wish a blessed Advent season, Merry Christmas and prayers from us,

Liturgical Ministry Meeting
Father Dao is hosting a meeting for all Liturgical Ministers. Father wants to share his vision with you,
He feels that your ministry is one of the most important in the Church and he wants to meet you and
share with you. Father will host two meetings for your convenience -- you need only attend one. He
asks that you save the date of Wednesday, January 14th 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM OR Saturday, January 17th
from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.Both meetings will be held in the Church, and we will have hospitality on
the patio before and after the meetings.

BIG Change to the times we meet for K-5 faith
formation. I value your suggestions and ask that

children to attend a whole Mass not coming in
during the Mass. We all like the convenience of
Sunday Faith Formation. We also like the idea
of Saturday morning Formation. We have
opened up Monday nights 6:pm to 7:30 pm
to 4th and 5thgraders who have received
First Holy Eucharist and wonder if you would

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but
before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit. Joseph her husband,
since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly.
Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and
said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through
the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and
you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All
this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: Behold, the
virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which
means “God is with us.” When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had
commanded him and took his wife into his home.

The attempt of the Church to be faithful to the
image of a healing Christ has some complicated
history, including centuries when the celebration
was rare. Most sick people had no access to the
rites at all; only monastics or the well off had
much hope of this care. Today, those unhappy days
are long behind us, and the care of the sick is an
essential task in every parish’s life. As Christmas
approaches almost everyone comes in contact with
someone who is a candidate for pastoral care. You
live out the best of our tradition when you arrange
for a sick person to receive Holy Communion or
the sacrament of the sick and the consolation of
regular contact with the faith community.

FIESTA DE LA FE
TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE
En el cristianismo hay muchas y variadas
imágenes de la escena de la Anunciación
narrada por Lucas (1:26-38). Casi siempre se
ve al ángel Gabriel que, bajando del cielo, se
acerca a la Virgen María. La jovencita, a veces
está trabajando, pero casi siempre está en
oración o leyendo la Sagrada Escritura. Ella se
voltea para ver al ángel, quien normalmente
apunta hacia el cielo con un dedo, recordando
que su mensaje es de origen divino. Estas
imágenes son reconocidas como “La
Anunciación” y conmemoran el mensaje
anunciado: Jesús.
Hay que ver más allá del ángel y la Virgen
en estas imágenes. Es necesario seguir el dedo
de Gabriel y ver que Dios se manifiesta en este
anuncio. Muchas veces Dios es presentado
como el Padre celestial y/o el Espíritu Santo
que envía rayos de luz hacia el vientre de la
Virgen. A veces en estos rayos se encuentra un
pequeño grano de trigo: semilla del Verbo
Divino. En esa semillita se encuentra el
anuncio verdadero: Dios se hace uno de
nosotros. El anuncio es la Encarnación del Hijo
de Dios.

Reflecting on God’s Word
In today’s first reading King David is settled in his cedar palace, no
upcoming battles on the horizon, feeling quite content, glass of
wine in hand, chatting with Nathan the prophet about how good life
is, when he gets this inspiration: “God should have a house! Certainly more than that old tent we have been dragging around. And I
will build it!” Nathan approves.
But that night, God weighs in: “Tell David, ‘Thanks, but no thanks.
I like the tent.’ ” We don’t know why God said no to David. But it
seems that God wanted to make clear not only who was building
God’s dwelling place but also who really was in charge of everything. God was the kingdom builder and God chose to work with
very simple material, like a tent. But this was nothing compared to
God’s decision a millennium later, on the day when the angel Gabriel was sent to a town of Galilee called Nazareth.
God’s plan from the beginning was to take up residence among us
closer than any building could be, whether it was as magnificent as
Solomon’s temple or as humble as the simplest parish church.
What God intended was to dwell with us as one of us, taking on
human flesh and blood. And in the fullness of time God came asking if one of us would be willing. We don’t know how long it took
for Mary to answer. We only remember the important thing: she
said yes.
