Welcome to the 2015 Pipe Organ Plus Series, now in its
15th year. We will revel in the return of some favourite
performers, while introducing some new musicians to the
Pipe Organ Plus family.
Exaltation begins the year with Katja Webb (Soprano), Brent
Grapes (Principal Trumpet, WASO) and Louise McKay (AssociatePrincipal ‘Cello, WASO) joining me in a wide variety of works
ranging from Melani and Bach to Mendelssohn and Dvořák.
The Perth Undergraduate Choral Society conducted by Sarah
Mills Menogue, with soprano Eva-Marie Middleton, will join Pipe
Organ Plus for Ascension. Focussing on the liturgical significance
of the day, Christ’s ascension into heaven, the programme will
interweave Franz Joseph Haydn's “Little Organ Mass” with Olivier
Messiaen’s phenomenal four-movement meditation on the
religious theme.
Imprimatur is my traditional solo organ recital, exploring works
by Germans JS Bach and his son, CPE Bach; Australians Grainger,
Koehne and Williams; and Frenchmen Vierne, Dupré and Guilmant.
Bask in the majesty of music written especially for the king of
instruments!
In Cecilian I am joined by Bronwyn Wallis (Harp) for my first ever
recital with organ and harp. Returning to St Thomas’ Church,
Claremont, for the Feast of St Cecilia, the Patron Saint of Musicians,
the programme will feature works written specifically for this
instrumental combination, including an Aria by Grandjany and a
Fantasia by American composer Rachel Laurin.
Please join me for a year of wonderful music making in 2015, as
we celebrate 15 years of Pipe Organ Plus!
Dominic Perissinotto
Organist and Artistic Director
