Why Nobody Wants to Go to
Church Anymore Discussion
If you read the the book Why Nobody
Wants to Go to Church Anymore: And How
4 Acts of Love Will Make Your Church
Irresistible (400 copies were given away

The shed is located in the garage off the corner

Another opportunity is here for us to invite - Christmas
Research shows us the majority of our unchurched family, friends, neighbors and coworkers are
open to an invitation to worship at Christmas. These individuals, drawn by the pull of religious
memory, family history and cultural influence, are even more likely to respond positively to a
sincere invitation at Christmas than at other times of the year.
Please review the entire Advent/Christmas worship and congregational activity. Consider which
special worship service and/or seasonal activity would be a good event for you and your friend
to attend together – Advent Wreath Making, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day worship, etc.
Remember, we simply invite. The Holy Spirit working through us, our Christmas worship and
congregational activities, the Biblical stories and this community of faith, work the miracle of a
powerful witness. Most people come to faith and a relationship with Christ over a period of time.
They do so through the experience of authentic and caring friends who invite and model
discipleship. We do have a gift worth sharing. Let’s invite this Christmas.
BRING YOUR MAGI TO CHURCH!
This year we will again be displaying Kings in the sanctuary windows on Saturday and
Sunday, January 3rd and 4th. If you would like to share your Kings from your manger
scene, let us know! You can drop off your Kings when you are at church after the
Christmas holidays. We have a nice selection of Kings that have been donated in the
past, some made by adults and children in the church and also have people who
bring them each year and take them home afterwards. We will be putting the
Kings in the windows on Saturday morning the 3rd.
If you would like to display your Kings,
contact Cricket Snearing 610-715-5438.

C OMMEMORATIONS
FOR THE
W EEK
As a means of recognizing the witness of exemplary Christians throughout church history, Evangelical Lutheran Worship includes many commemorations which may be observed in corporate worship as well as in personal devotions.
Friday, December 26, 2014-Stephen, Deacon and Martyr
Stephen was a deacon and the first martyr of the church. He was one of those seven upon whom
the apostles laid hands after they had been chosen to serve widows and others in need. Later,
Stephen's preaching angered the temple authorities, and they ordered him to be put to death by
stoning.
Saturday, December 27-John, Apostle and Evangelist
The son of Zebedee and brother of James, John was one of the twelve disciples and witness to
the transfiguration. Tradition has named him also the writer of the Gospel of John, the three New
Testament letters bearing his name, as well as Revelation.
Sunday, December 28-The Holy Innocents, Martyrs
This day commemorates the young children killed by Herod in Bethlehem in his jealous attempt
to murder the baby Jesus, a sobering reminder of the evil that led Christ to be born for our
salvation.

come. With your abundant grace and
might, free us from the sin that would
obstruct your mercy, that willingly we
may bear your redeeming love to all the
world, for you live and reign with the
Father and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen
