three shifts, we felt like we

Gold) for quite a bit. We
knew they were going to be
rivals,” said Jack McArdle,

“Some of them didn’t make
this team so we knew they
were going to be hungry for
this game.
“Friends off the ice, but
eyes on countless opportunities to regain the lead
including extended five-onthree opportunities to start
the second period.
Green showcased its
opportunism when play
returned to five-on-five
as team leading sniper
Partaker ripped one far
corner to get his squad infront.
The physicality spilled
over into the final frame as
Green found itself killing off
a two-man advantage.
This time Gold cashed in
on the opportunity.
Jordan Maheux made a

around a defender before
lifting the puck into the
near corner and evening the

Once again, Green would

Eagles looking for permanent home

On the heels of a
groundbreaking season the
Foothills Eagles are looking to bring their blossoming minor football program
closer to home.
League winners in both
the Calgary Bantam and
Peewee football associations, the Eagles have a
vision for victories on home
soil after playing games
exclusively at Shouldice
Park in NW Calgary.
“That might be changing because Cochrane
has started the building
of a turf field which will
be ready for play in the
2015 season,” said Cam
Burbank, president of the
Greater Okotoks Football
Association. “We’ve had
dialogues in the past with
Calgary and there hasn’t
been a whole lot of movement especially since they
developed those turf field
about five or six years ago.
Most teams don’t want to
go anywhere else because
they’re playing on turf.
“With Cochrane having
a turf field now and the
possibility with Okotoks
having that it could possibly open up the door for
a lot of programs to do the
same thing which would
invite the opportunity for
us to host league home
games which we currently
aren’t allowed to do.”
The opening of the
Legacy Regional Field
House in Aldersyde has
the Eagles envisioning a
permanent home for the
program after years of shuffling around town for practices and making the trip
north for all of their games.
