The clubhouse, groomer and trail drag will be on display. See the equipment necessary to make our trails great. Members will be avail- able to answer questions and offer trail maps and trail tips on finding the best trails for your interest. The club has weekly rides open to anyone and find out when the next ride will take place. The Marathon’s Center is located on the Paul Bunyan Trail in Merrifield or west side of Highway 3 just one half mile south of the Super America station. Come by snowmobile or auto and get acquainted, look around, enjoy the outdoor fire and a free trailside luncheon. The Northern Lakes Lightning girls’ hockey team has been close most of the sesaon, but last Tuesday posted its first victory with a 4-3 win over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek. Sam Gutzman scored a hat trick to lead the Lightning and Mariah Reed tallied the other goal. Madison Galligan recorded 19 saves in the win and Northern Lakes finished with 23 shots on goal. The Crosby-Ironton Rangerettes hosted the first conference meet of the season. Seven teams competed in the kick division: Wadena, Detroit Lakes, Pine River, Pierz, Aitkin, Pequot Lakes and C-I. After an energetic, clean performance in front of a large local crowd, the varsity team earned a second place trophy. Aitkin was first and Pequot Lakes came in thrid. The team’s next competition will be in Alexandria on Jan. 10. Kaylee Unzeitig and Nikita Finnerty are in the foreground. B squad boys top Deer River C-I’s B squad boys’ basketball team traveled to Deer River Friday and came home with a 56-45 victory. Join the Cuyuna Iron Range Riders ATV Club The Cuyuna Iron Range Riders is a family-style group for youth to grandparents located in the Crosby-Ironton area that is dedicated to responsible riding. We offer youth safety training, trail ambassadorship, monthly rides and family-style events each year. Joing an ATV club is a great way to meet new people and enjoy exploring trails. We have been active in the Cuyuna Range community since 2004. The club is maintaining the Miller Black Bear trail area located between the cities of Trommald and Riverton off Iverson Road. The trail area is approximately 20 miles of nice forest trails with scenic overlooks of the Mississippi River. The club offers membership to anyone interested in trail riding and exploring. Individual memberships are $15 annually while a family is $20. Business memberships are $30. Merry Christmas from ATV club The Cuyuna Iron Range ATV club wishes everyone in the Cuyuna Range a Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy and Prosperous New Year. Club meetings will resume Jan. 10 at 10 a.m. at the Ironton Legion (232 Fourth Street). The club will discuss trail rides, youth safety training and the Miller Black Bear Trail. Much of the trail work has been completed and a grand opening will be planned for the coming year. Non-members are welcome to join.
