THE LIFE OF MOSES
The Birth of Moses
January 11, 2015
Exodus 2:1-10
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of
those who love him, who have been called according to his
purpose.” Romans 8:28
“For everything that was written in the past was written to
teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the
Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might
have hope.” Romans 15:4
What are the first five books of the Bible?
Exodus 2
1 Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman,
2 and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When
she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three
months.
3 But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus
basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she
placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the
bank of the Nile. 4 His sister stood at a distance to see what
would happen to him.
5 Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe,
and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She
saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave
to get it. 6 She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying,
and she felt sorry for him.
Who wrote this story down about Moses’ birth?
7 Then his sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and
get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?” 8
“Yes, go,” she answered. So the girl went and got the baby’s
mother. 9 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this baby
and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.” So the woman
took the baby and nursed him.
10 When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s
daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses,
saying, “I drew him out of the water.”
“Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians
and was powerful in speech and action.” Acts 22:7
Why was Moses’ upbringing important?

Sanctuary
Sanctuary is the First, Third, & Last Wednesday of every month, 6:307:30 PM, in Thornley Chapel East.
Within the framework of contemplative worship music and moments
of silence, this service is offered to those seeking a safe place to come
before the Lord, resting in His presence while developing a deeper
intimacy with Him.
The Angel Fund is a ministry of St. Paul’s managed by Tom &
Arlene Malanga and assists those in Ocean Grove and the neighboring
towns who suffer a sudden financial hardship.
Only those applicants who meet eligibility requirements are
considered for assistance. Typically we help with temporary housing,
rent, utilities, telephone, doctor, dentist, pharmacy, fuel and
transportation expenses.
During the past calendar year we were able to assist over 148
individuals and families and help them get back on their feet.
We are supported solely by your contributions. We are not a funded
program of St Paul’s.
The month of January has been designated Angel Fund month and
your Communion Offering will be given to us to support this ministry.
Your continuing support will make a big difference in many lives.
