PHOTO DIRECTORY
We are planning another pictorial directory
early this spring and we are looking for a volunteer to coordinate with LifeTouch Studio. If
you are interested please contact Pat at 314-962
-0038. LifeTouch is scheduled to be here for a
total of 10 days.
FATHER BROWN’S CORNER
There is a small alcove immediately to the right as one enters church through the handicap-accessible doors
off Joy Avenue. In this alcove there are votive candles and a shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary. For the past
several months there had been an oversized chalk sketch on paper of the Madonna and child. The artist of
that piece was Craig Thomas, an artist whose work can be found on display throughout the Midwest. Because many parishioners expressed their appreciation for his work, I commissioned him to produce an oil
painting of Mary and Jesus after the style of the first picture. He did so, and now that acrylic and oil painting
is installed in that alcove. As you might guess, a creative artist exercises his own sensibilities in making
choices in the execution of a piece. The one thing I asked him to keep in mind is that we wanted an image in
which we see Mary offering the Christ to a supplicant world. In my uneducated artistic opinion, I think he
has produced a beautiful piece. I encourage parishioners to stop and spend a devotional moment before that
image, especially as the Christmas season comes to an end, committing themselves to accept anew Our Holy
Redeemer in their hearts.
If there is a parishioner who would be interested in serving as the financial patron for this work of art, perhaps in memory of one's mother, he or she should contact Fr. Brown.

THANK YOU
Dear Parish Family,
Thank you for very much for your generosity this Christmas! You helped over 165 men, women and children
from St. Pius V Immigrant Refugee Ministry and Head
Start programs experience the true meaning of Christmas, along with countless others who benefited from
your donations of basic home and personal care items.
May God bless all of you with a safe, happy and healthy
New Year!

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
Thank you for supporting St Vincent de Paul. Already
this month, we have been able to rescue 2 Webster families from having their heat turned off. We always tell
our clients that our help comes from you, our parishioners, because of the blessings you have received. They
are so grateful. God bless you and know that your
SVDP Conference is grateful too! If you are interested
in a hands-on way of assisting SVDP, contact Raoul
Robichaux at [email protected] for more

Mark 1:7
We are put on this earth to love God, love our neighbor
and make disciples. How many times does our own pride
and ego get in the way on fulfilling God’s plan for us?
Humbling ourselves before God and putting Him first in
all things should be our top priority.
