Christmas Outreach
Our parish community did an outstanding
job in reaching out to those in need.
Parishioners at St. Edmond’s collected
gifts from the Giving Tree, our sodalists
collected gifts for the Little Sisters of the
Poor, our school children and prep students collected a mountain of toys for
needy children. Your care, concern and
compassion helped to make this beautiful
season bright for many. May God Bless
your generosity.

The Baptism of the Lord
(Lec. 21)
1) Isaiah 42:1-4, 6-7 or Isaiah 55:1-11
2) Acts 10:34-38 or 1 John 5:1-9
3) Mark 1:7-11
FOCUS: The fullness of God’s Spirit
was upon Jesus.
The Spirit of God moved and worked in
the lives of prophets and saints. But the
fullness of God’s Spirit rested upon his
son, Jesus. The power and presence of the
Holy Spirit was evident in the life of Jesus.
When we open our lives to Jesus, we
receive the same Spirit that strengthened
and sustained Jesus during his life and
ministry.
LITURGY OF THE WORD
Isaiah prophesies that God will send his
servant, the one on whom God’s Spirit will
rest. In our reading from the Acts of the
Apostles, Peter confirms that God’s Spirit
was upon Jesus at his baptism. A voice
from heaven declared that Jesus was
God’s beloved son, in whom he was well
pleased.

God and Father of us all,
In Jesus, your Son and our Savior,
You have made us your sons and
