SUNDAY, JANUARY 25, 2015
3rd Sunday In Ordinary Time
(Lec. 68)
1) Jonah 3:1-5, 10
2) 1 Corinthians 7:29-31
3) Mark 1:14-20
FOCUS: Now is the time to respond to
God and seize every grace-filled moment.
God blesses us with opportunities that can
move us forward on the road to salvation.
Let us open our minds and hearts so we
are able to recognize these moments of
grace and take full advantage of them.
Whenever we listen to the voice of the Holy
Spirit within us, it will be a time of
spiritual growth that will keep our feet
planted on the path that leads to eternal
life.
LITURGY OF THE WORD
In our first reading we hear that, through
the preaching of Jonah, the Ninevites
returned to God. In our second reading,
Saint Paul tells the Corinthians that they
are to live in readiness to meet the Lord.
The Gospel from Saint Mark recounts how
the first Apostles heeded the voice of
Christ and responded immediately with
their lives.

An Apology regarding
donation envelopes…..
We are working to resolve the
“envelope problem”. In the
meantime, if you have not received your envelopes with your correct parishioner # on them
or you have received more than one set with 2
different numbers on them, please let us know
& kindly use any plain envelope & write your
name & parishioner # on it. PLEASE Do Not
use old envelopes that have an old or incorrect
# on them. Donations are entered by envelope
# & if your correct # is not on the envelope,
you won’t get credited properly. (Note: ALL
St. Edmond envelopes are 4-digit numbers
beginning with 6.) Any questions, please call St.
Monica Rectory.
Please….Please….Please….
Please do not tape, staple or pin your
collection envelopes. Also, please
enter the amount to ensure proper credit.
Thank you for your cooperation
and may God continue to bless
your generosity.
Prayer for the World
Meeting of Families
Please pray this prayer before all parish Masses
and before parish meetings and events. This
prayer is not prayed during Mass.
God and Father of us all,
In Jesus, your Son and our Savior,
You have made us your sons and
daughters in the family of the Church.
May your grace and love
Help our families
In every part of the world
Be united to one another
In fidelity to the Gospel.
May the example of the Holy Family,
With the aid of your Holy Spirit,
Guide all families, especially those most
troubled,
To be homes of communion and prayer
And to always seek your truth and live in your
love.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!
Go and Teach All Nations
At the time of His Ascension, Jesus gave the
command “To Go and Teach All Nations”. It is the
duty & responsibility of all Catholics to join in this
command. At St. Monica Parish we provide a
Christ-centered, academically sound education to
well over 520 students from Early Learning to
Grade 8. We encourage all to use the blue weekly
envelope which helps to support our children.
Many adults enjoyed the benefit of a Catholic
Education tuition free. By your use of the blue
envelope you will insure a Catholic Education to
future generations.
Catholic School Week Opening
On Sunday, Jan. 25 our School Community will
open the Celebration of Catholic School Week at
the 11:30 Mass. We invite all in the parish to join
in the celebration. We are pretty proud of our
school which has served our community for over
107 years as well as our students & faculty. St.
Monica School is truly “The Pride of South
Philly.”
