Tourism has become an essential aspect of the global concern. It acts as an important agent for regional development by providing employment, generating foreign exchange and promoting of infra structural development. India possesses immense potentials but the sector is lagging behind and accounts for about only 0.5 per cent of the global tourism. To make tourism more tenable and a better way to promote a balanced regional development with a sustainable environment is the main objective of this international conference. Tourism, environment and development together may be considered in the positive tune for human development. So this is a high time for us to discuss the related issues and make useful suggestions through deliberations in this international conference. HOW TO REACH BODHGAYA Gaya is well connected with the other parts of India through roads, railways and air. The month of February is the ideal and very pleasant with mild cold climate which requires light woollen garments. TOURIST SPOTS Besides main glorious temple of Lord Buddha and Mahabodhi tree, there are more than two dozen foreign monasteries belonging to Buddhism. Bodhgaya as a unique place of cultural complexes which attracts tourists in large number from all parts of the world. A few other important sacred centres and tourist spots all around Gaya and Bodhgaya such as Rajgir's hot spring, ruins of the ancient University of Nalanda, Jal Mandir of Pawpuri, Sun Temple of Deo etc. are worth to visit. MAGADH UNIVERSITY, BODHGAYA is one of the largest universities of Bihar. It is functioning as an important academic centre of south Bihar from early sixties. It consists 44 Constituent Colleges and more than 250 affiliated colleges with over 4.5 lakh students spread over in seven districts of the State. UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY The Post Graduate Department of Geography comes under Science faculty. The department is academically conscious and vibrant since its beginning and has teachers of national and international repute. Advance teaching and researches are carried out in important and modern branches of Geography. M.A./M.Sc. in Geography and Ph.D. courses are offered in the department. About 300 research scholars have been awarded with Ph.D. Degree.
