2014 at the TSU Pavilions A & B from 9am to 3pm. The requested funds will be used to
cover the honorarium for David Carle.
All Points of the Compass is an annual conference that showcases the research of
CSUF undergraduates, graduates, alumni, and faculty. This conference is the Geography
program’s signature professional event for the academic year. This year’s conference
will feature a keynote panel presentation focusing on water issues in the West. David
Carle, author of UC Press’ Introduction to Water in California, will discuss the supply
side, describing the historic water choices and some of the water projects. Joe Berg is the
efficiency programs manager at the Metropolitan Water District of Orange County. He
will describe the current demand side and efficiency and conservation measures. Our
third panelist will be from OCWD; they will talk about the Groundwater Recharge
system as a future source of water.
The conference is centered on the research interests of CSUF geography students,
is completely organized and run by volunteers from the Geography Club, is a
professional event that includes paper and poster presentations, and is an important (and
fun) way for CSUF geography students to gain valuable experience presenting their
research.
