Wade: On Thursday, we will sadly mark 42 years since the heart-breaking Supreme Court decision that legalized the destruction of children before birth in our country. As we remember and pray for the millions who were denied life and their families, please reflect on how our society has changed over the last 42 years. The culture of death has had an affect on all of us and our relationship with God, the Creator of Life. Please continue your efforts to bring an end to abortion through prayer, activism, teaching children about the dignity and respect we have for all human life from conception to natural death and supporting women in unplanned or difficult pregnancies. St. Mary’s Church Repair Updates: We are very happy to report that all of the heating ducts have been cleaned and both furnaces are now heating the church. Council of Catholic Women Leadership Team Educational Program for Three-Year Olds Begins at St. Charles: Parents from Cassville approached St. Charles Parish and inquired if it would be possible to create a program for three-year olds in the area. Last fall a committee looked into the need, the interest of parents and their willingness to pay tuition to fund the program. The committee found that a number of parents took their three-year old children to other communities to attend pre-school programs. With sufficient commitment from a number of parents, the pre-school program has started. Class is on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and is taught be Jackie Edge-DeShaw. Although we have a sufficient number of students to begin the program, we could still accommodate two or three more for this winter. If you are interested in enrolling your three-year old child for this winter or for next fall, please contact St. Charles School at725-5173. St. Charles School News: Come join us on Sunday, the January 25 for our Catholic School’s Week Mass. The students put a lot of effort into making this Mass special. Something new that we are doing this year is to have Grandparent’s Day on January 27. We are inviting them in to play Bingo with the students after Mass. Our magazine sales drive is in full swing. The club is also sponsoring a farm toy show this year from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the high school gym. The West Grant Lioness Club will also hold a bake sale that morning. Advance adult tickets at a reduced price are available from the members of the West Grant Lions Club. Featured on the menu will be pancakes, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs, orange juice, milk and coffee. In the past, the Lions have donated to the West Grant Rescue Squad, local fire departments, Operation Santa Claus, Wisconsin Badger Camp, scholarships, senior class awards banquet and local community projects as well as helping to support Lions eye clinics and hearing projects.
