Secretary’s Message
Well, another year has arrived and I can now spend the next month or so trying to remember to write 2015
instead of 2014! Hope your Holidays were great, filled with joy & happiness, food, drinks & more food!!!
As you know, with the New Year, comes the return of the ‘dreaded’ Dues Notice! I will start sending them
out this month so that those of you who desire the coveted Early Bird sticker on your card will be able to reach your
goal quickly.
Why not stop by the Lounge to say “Hi” to old friends & maybe make some new ones, while having a drink
or two (or3!?) & enjoying a snack from our New Bar Menu. Hope to see you soon!!

functions of a computer, do's and don'ts, getting on the internet,
browsing, and email. Microsoft Windows XP is no longer a functional
system, we will work with Windows 7 & 8. ~ C.J. Metcalfe

MESSAGE FROM YOUR EXALTED RULER
Dear Members,
It’s the beginning of a New Year calendar wise and the last quarter of the Lodge
year. Those of you thinking of running for office or would like to chair or be on a
specific committee you need to contact the officers and come to the PER meeting
January 26th.
Our annual Hoop Shoot was a great success thanks to Ken Yagoda and his team it
was a beautiful day with a good turnout. As of this writing we don’t know how they
have done at the district level, but are anxious to find out.
The purple pig is here. The use of the pig is for members to put it on their dresser at
home and put their loose change in it. Once full you turn the pig in and the money will
go to Harry Anna Trust or Elks National Foundation, your choice. This is a new
program for our Lodge to raise money for our two main charities. Just one small thing
the pigs on our first order were a lot smaller than anticipated. For this first time out we
are giving everybody who wants one and all new members two pigs to fill. In order to
participate all you have to do is ask the bartender for a pig and they will be happy to
give two of them to you or more if you think you need. We hope these little piggy banks
will assist us in achieving our goals as a Lodge. I sincerely hope that you find them and
fill them. Thank you in advance for all help and or suggestions concerning the pig.
We are having a Super Bowl Party on February 1st. Come and join in on the fun and
games.
I hope all had Happy Holidays and wish you many more to come.
“IT’S GREAT TO BE AN ELK”
Fraternally,
Terry Anderson

Hersey Kiss Pie Crust Cookies
1 - Refrigerated pie crust, thawed
14 - Hershey kisses of choice, I used mint truffle today
1 - Egg white
1 - Tbsp
1 - Tbsp water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Roll out pie dough onto a lightly
floured counter top. Place 10 kisses around the edges of pie dough, about 2
1/2 inches apart. Take a knife and cut a 2 1/2 to 3 inch circle around kiss.
Fold half of pie dough around top of dough and pinch edge around top of
kiss.
Now, fold up both sides of remaining dough up to the tip of the
kiss pinching edge. Now press together edges and form criss cross. Continue
cutting dough around kisses until all dough is used up. Brush all little pies
with an egg white wash (egg and 1 Tbs of water) then sprinkle with granulated sugar or splenda.
Bake for 20-28 minutes or until little pies are golden. Remove and
let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling rack. Dust each with
powdered sugar and serve.
L.O.E. President’s Message
Holidays are over & Santa has gone back to the North Pole to start preparing for next year.
Hope everyone had a good Christmas with their loved ones. Christmas in Kentucky was cold. I was greeted with
snow on my arrival, but being with family and friends made my holidays warm and fuzzy. Our Winter Wonderland
Dance was well attended and an enjoyable evening was had by all. The eggnog party sponsored by the Elks and
LOE was as usual a fun afternoon.
The New Year holds a whole lot of promises for both the Elks and the LOE. After a successful 2014 the month of
January is starting slow. Our first LOE meeting is Jan. 5th at 7:30 PM. At this meeting we have a lot to discuss
concerning our LOE functions for the year. There is a possibility of a function to be held later in the month. Please
try to be in attendance at this meeting, we need your thoughts and ideas.
Board meeting is at 7:30 PM on Jan 26th and the Elks Flea Market is on Jan 31st. I'm looking forward to seeing all
your smiling faces.
