Thank you Third Sunday in Ordinary Time HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly “‘Forty days more and Nineveh will be destroyed’… ‘I tell you, brothers and sisters me is running out’… Aer John had been arrested Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God.’ This is the me of fulfillment. The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.’” Jonah, Paul and Jesus speak with a sense of urgency. The forty days, the emptying of the sand in the capsule and the immediacy announced by Jesus, surely awake us to something we might find easier to forget. The next time we might think about it is in a few weeks when we have blessed ashes drawn on our foreheads. Some heard the call and listened to His message. Andrew and his brother and the sons of Zebedee, left what they were doing to follow the Lord. Do you think they knew exactly what was in store for them? Was their father or work of greater importance? Perhaps the ‘time message’ of our writers today influenced them. We often check the time. The bus or train is late, I have a doctor’s appointment, or the movie or game might begin without me. We are told the hour and asked if we know where our children are. We are surrounded by time questions. The forty days, time running out and the present moment speak of a sacred time, not just a passing minute or hour. Check your watch! Page 3 Mandatory Eucharistic Minister Meeting On Monday, February 9, 2015 at 7:00PM, Father Jimson will hold a mandatory Eucharistic Minister meeting in the Parish office conference room. Msgr. Michael J. Corona, PA, KCHS, executive director of the diocesan Department of Education. “Our bishop is deserving of this honor which is also an expression of our gratitude for his ongoing support for the teachers, administrators, and most importantly the children attending our Catholic schools.” The proceeds from the Catholic School Education Dinner benefits the Foundation for Catholic Education Scholarship Fund which provides tuition assistance for low-income families whose children attend our diocesan Catholic schools. St. Lucy Lucy experienced to the full the joy that being a child of God brings. She understood that— through her prolonged illness— God, good and solicitous Father, was purifying her and preparing her for a growing acceptance of His loving plan for her. In life’s adversities and in the affronts she suffered, Lucy preserved peace of soul by clinging to the Cross of Christ.
