Did you know?
Because of the abundance of St. Valentines on the Roman Catholic roster, you can choose to celebrate the saint multiple times each
year. Besides February 14, you might decide to celebrate St. Valentine of Viterbo on November 3. Or maybe you want to get a jump
on the traditional Valentine celebration by feting St. Valentine of Raetia on January 7. Women might choose to honor the only female
St. Valentine (Valentina), a virgin martyred in Palestine on July 25, A.D. 308. The Eastern Orthodox Church officially celebrates St.
Valentine twice, once as an elder of the church on July 6 and once as a martyr on July 30.
No matter which date you chose remember February 14th is the day we will be celebrating at the Backus American Legion. Where
good people go for a good time.
Get your reservations in early by calling the club. Cost $20.00 per person. My wife and I are looking forward to seeing all of you
there.

Auxiliary News
Since we did not meet since November, there is no news to report. However, now is
a good time to thank Barb Frederick for her work on the Memorial Garden, including decorating the garden for Christmas. So thanks Barb – we appreciate all
that you do.
We have a hostess list for 2015, but no one has stepped up for the July meeting.

Black Bean, Split Pea, Ham and Potato, Creamy Cabbage, Beer Cheese, Beef Barley
and oh so many others, nineteen to be exact! Nineteen pots of deliciousness at our Soup
Cook-Off. Thank you all for participating!
The next event that you can participate in will be the Super Sunday Football Party,
Sunday Feb. 1st the fun begins at 5pm we have a meat raffle, door prizes, Potluck,
Trivia and drink specials.
Saturday, February 14, is the annual Valentine’s Sweetheart Dinner……social

pm, dinner at 6:30 pm…..You’ll be totally pampered at this event featuring a 12-ounce
prime rib or six large deep fried shrimp with a baked potato, Caesar salad, bread, dessert
and your choice of four wines…..just $20 a person…..guests get a reserved table and
their own wait staff. For individuals, couples and groups. Call 218-947-3156 or 5875051 and leave your name and telephone number for reservations…. or sign up at the
Legion. Seating is limited and reservations are requested by Feb. 8th.
