Until 8 February Five exhibitions over the summer months that celebrate the city and the region, its history and cultural identity. At the centrepiece of this celebration of, the Gallery is ‘Lyons’ view—the Mayor’s choice’: an exhibition that provides a rare opportunity to view works from Mayor Darryn Lyons’ private collection shown alongside works from the Gallery’s renowned collection. Also in ‘We are Geelong’: a newly commissioned installation by well‐known local street artist Glen Smith. Inspired by Geelong’s iconic and controversial ‘Ritz Flats’, this large‐scale installation explores the tension between urban renewal and the quest to preserve architectural heritage. We support a diverse and innovative screen industry by providing training and professional development, production initiatives and support. Open Channel acknowledges the financial assistance of Screen Australia and Film Victoria. We have been working across Regional Victoria to conduct customised filmmaker training and production workshops with our Mobile Training Unit, taught by leading Victorian filmmakers.
