FEBRUARY 1, 2015

th
STEPHEN MINISTRY – With Valentine’s Day on the 14 , February is the month that we all think of
love. This feeling is stated in various places in the Bible.
Psalm 52:1 "The steadfast love of God endures all the day."; 1 Corinthians 13:13 “There are
three things that remain – faith, hope, and love – the greatest of these is love.”; Romans 8:39 “Nor
height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of
God.” Though we love our family and friends, God’s love for us should be our highest priority. The amazing
thing about God’s love for us is that it is not dependent on what we do or what we do not do!
Though He loves us unconditionally, you or someone you know may not fully accept this love or the love
from family and friends. If so, Stephen Ministers are ready to listen, encourage and help you through these
feelings confidentially.
To find out more information, call our Stephen Minister Leader, Sara Jenkins, 705-2172.

amounted to $445. As always, the Mission Team thanks you for your generous support of our
Miracle Jars.
Our Miracle Jars for February go to support Family Promise. Their mission is to
provide temporary shelter, family stability and permanent housing solutions for
homeless families with children by mobilizing community resources. Family Promise has an 80%
success rate graduating families into permanent housing and a 100% success rate at the end of
one year. Our church is a host church for Family Promise and we will be housing the families the
third week of March. I'm sure James Atkins would appreciate any help you can offer. Please
contact him for further information.
The Mission Team will again be ordering BUTTER BRAID PASTRIES. They are so
st
flaky and melt in your mouth delicious. They can be ordered from February 1
th
through March 15 . This will allow time for us to order them so you will be able
to pick them up on Palm Sunday. Just fill out your order, attach your payment and place it in the offering
plate. If you pay by check, please make it payable to the church (BUMC) with “Butter Braid” in the memo
line. If you have any questions, you can contact Joyce Hall at 706-9224. The sale proceeds will go to Meals
on Wheels.
FLOWER CHART – It has been brought to my attention that people could not find the
Flower Chart in order to sign up!! (It’s no wonder…it was moved to the Fellowship Hall),
BUT now…it is on the wall in the Narthex. There are a few dates still available, so please
take the time to sign up.
Thanks, Pat
