Three Legs of Triathlon Training in a Christmas Stocking

Three Legs of Triathlon Training in a Christmas Stocking
The Carina Leagues Triathlon Club has invited carers to consider filling up their
children’s Christmas stockings with three triathlon legs.
“With an entry in the junior triathlon holiday skills camp on Thursday and Friday the
16th and 17th of January 2014, kids can have fun trying out their swimming, bike
riding and running skills,” Club Assistant Coach Aaron Schadel said.
“This increasingly popular event is an opportunity many kids have discovered can
really be a lot of fun.
“Going from 9am to 3pm each day, the camp teaches basic skills, with a focus on
what to do after the swim leg and then the bike leg of races,” Aaron said.
“The camp is designed for 8-14 year olds without any experience in the sport.
“Under the guidance and supervision of well-qualified coaches, the aim is to get kids
outdoors by providing a safe, enjoyable learning environment.
“The club has staged these camps for the past four years at the Clem Jones Centre,
Zahel Street Carina, and, they have been hugely successful.”
Aaron said a new online registration process made it easy to get involved.

Aaron said as an indication of the popularity of the event he was happy to quote one
family involved. Matt Curd, parent of 12 year old Jordan Curd, spoke of his
experience at the recent September holiday camp.
“My son Jordan attended the two day Skills Training Camp at the Clem Jones Centre during the last September school holidays.
“Not only was the camp great value at $120, as it included morning tea and lunch, a
triathlon gift pack and ran at a very convenient time each day, but Jordan really
enjoyed himself.
“An entry into the January camp with a focus on transition skills will definitely be going into his Christmas stocking!” Matt said. Aaron said at the end of the two days, to finish off with a bang, and to help children
become race ready, the club runs action packed mini Aquathlon and triathlons.
“This allows the kids to practise the skills they have picked up in safe, race like
conditions.
“This different experience is sure to please and costs very little. It is not very
expensive for the first child in the family with discounts for second and third family
members.”
Aaron said his email is [email protected] or phone 0422
357 710.
