In 1969, Carney was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Mary O’Brien. Together, they welcomed Amy and Ashley into this world. After graduating from C-I High School in Crosby, he attended St. John’s University where he pursued a degree in mathematics, graduating second in his class.
