PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
I don't know about you, but I dislike snow. Sure, freshly fallen snow on a
landscape is a pretty sight to behold; it's just everything else about it I
despise. Here are my top five reasons for disliking snow.
1. It's cold.
2. It's wet.
3. It gets tracked into buildings, causing little puddles and dirty
rugs.
4. My car gets dirty.
5. People don't drive well in snow.
Regardless of how any of us feels about snow, it is alas an inevitable event in the winter.
Speaking of winter, our next meeting will keep us out of the frigid air, and allow us to remain at our desks with our sandwiches in hand to learn about "Setting the Stage for Automatic Disposition." This lunch and learn session is presented by Susan Cisco, Ph.D.,
CRM, FAI, and will be presented via the Jefferson Lab Blue Jeans web conference application on Tuesday, February 17th. We will begin with a short business meeting, and then
proceed directly into the presentation. Login information will be sent out in the coming
week.
There are a little over 45 days left until the first day of spring. Let's hope the winter is
kind to us.
Be safe and stay warm Blessings,
Kim Edwards (Kindrew), CRM

Setting the Stage for Automatic Disposition
Susan Cisco, Ph.D., CRM, FAI
Skill Level: Strategic
Education Track: Records & Information Management

Program Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this session, you will
be able to:

Define an information lifecycle model
and associated business rules
Simplify an existing retention schedule with the big bucket approach

PROGRAM
Setting the Stage for Automatic
Disposition
Susan Cisco, Ph.D., CRM, FAI
Forward-thinking organizations embrace automatic disposition as the most efficient approach to managing unstructured electronic
records with expired retention periods. This
approach assumes that a legal hold/release
program and an up-to-date and approved records retention schedule are in place. This session introduces an enterprise information
lifecycle model that completes the framework
for defining the rules that can be implemented consistently across the organization. You
will learn how this model supports the principles of availability, retention, and disposition
to help effect proper automatic disposition.
Summarize how automatic disposition
is implemented, including retention management for records stored in the cloud by
third parties

ABOUT THE
INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED RECORDS MANAGERS AND THE CRM
CREDENTIAL
The Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM), an international certifying body of and for
professional records managers, began the process of issuing the CRM designation in 1975. The
organization and the credential continues to be a valuable part of the Records and Information
Management (RIM) community; an expanding interdisciplinary, global and diverse constituency. The ICRM serves as the official certifying body for both ARMA International and the Nuclear
Information and Records Management Association (NIRMA).
The CRM credential provides a strong foundation of core skills and competencies for the RIM
professional. It covers everything from general management principles, all aspects of recordkeeping from creation, management, control, storage and disposition, through in-depth areas
of recordkeeping technologies. In addition, CRM Candidates are required to put together the
subject matter knowledge they gain through preparation for the exams, by writing two business
case studies that demonstrate their ability to apply and convey their knowledge to upper management, clients and other constituents.
