ST. EDWARD PARISH SELECTED TO
PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL STUDY!
St. Edward Parish has been selected to participate in a
national study of vibrant parishes conducted by the
Catholic Leadership Institute!
Please help us participate by completing a 10-15 minute
survey online. The survey will be emailed to you by
[email protected]. The
survey will only be available from February 17 to March
10 and will ask you to reflect on your own spiritual
growth and enable you to provide feedback on what
efforts the parish is doing to help you grow. All
responses will be confidential and the parish will only
receive information about the community as whole.
We are trying to get the highest response rate possible.
This information will be invaluable to Fr. Belisle and our
Pastoral Plan Committee as we plan ahead and try to be
the best disciples we can be. We will receive the results
in May/June at which time, we will share what we have
learned with the entire parish.

Hermanos:
No tengo por qué presumir de predicar el Evangelio,
puesto que ésa es mi obligación. ¡Ay de mí, si no anuncio
el Evangelio! Si yo lo hiciera por propia iniciativa,
merecería recompensa; pero si no, es que se me ha
confiado una misión. Entonces, ¿en qué consiste mi
recompensa? Consiste en predicar el Evangelio
gratis, renunciando al derecho que tengo a vivir de la

En aquel tiempo, al salir Jesús de la sinagoga,
fue con Santiago y Juan a casa de Simón y Andrés.
La suegra de Simón estaba en cama, con fiebre,
y enseguida le avisaron a Jesús. Él se le acercó, y
tomándola de la mano, la levantó. En ese momento se le
quitó la fiebre y se puso a servirles.

COMMUNITY MEALS
We need volunteers to help provide for our increasing
community’s hungry! This is a very important ministry
and we need our community’s involvement. We are
facing an average of 70 to 100 meals a night and these
include an increase of families. If you are interested in
helping provide a dish or helping with the set-up or clean
up please sign up in the church narthex or contact our
coordinator, Mike Wallace at 432- 8204 or Mary
Chapman for more information. We serve meals on
February 8th, 9th & 23rd.
We would like to thank Glenn Bell, Paul Heath, Vern
Harris and Arden Holbrook for preparing and serving 121
meals last Monday. You are all a blessing!
JUNIOR HIGH RALLY
We have begun registration for the up-coming Jr. High
Rally that is being held on March 7th in Seattle. This
rally is open to all 6th through 8th graders. This daylong
rally is a great way for our junior youth to participate with
other youth throughout the Archdiocese. They will
gather to sing, pray, share a common faith and HAVE
FUN. If you need more information or are interested in
chaperoning, please contact the education office or
Colleen Delgado.
BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER
The youth will be sponsoring a French Toast Breakfast
on Sunday, February 22nd. All proceeds will go to help
offset the costs for our Jr. High youth to attend the Rally
in Seattle. We need everyone’s support.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK
The World Day of the Sick is Wednesday,
February 11th. The Sacrament of the Anointing
of the Sick will be offered at Masses on February
14th and 15th. If you feel you are in need of the
graces of this sacrament, please let the Ushers
know and they will direct where to sit. We
request that you sign the log sheet as the Archdiocese records the
number of Anointings done at each parish.

WORLD DAY OF THE SICK
A Creed of the Sick
1. I believe that neither chance nor fate play a part in sending me
crosses and sorrows; it is the Providence of God and His fatherly
care.
2. I believe that to those who love God, all things work together for
the good; for me this also means that I am now sick.
3. I believe that my, life on earth is only a momentary stopping off place on the great trip to eternity.
4. I believe that God never sends pain merely to provoke, plague or
irritate me.
5. I believe that my sickness is a signal from God for me to stop
hurrying through life. He tells me to stop, learn self-control and
patience, and to concentrate on thinking of eternity.
6. I believe that all crabbing, murmuring and rationalizing on God's
reason for sending me this sickness are sinful and an injustice to
my heavenly Father.
7. I believe that through sickness I can atone for my past sins and
for the sins of others.
8. I believe that through sickness God wants to make me a richer,
better and more perfect character.
9. I believe that by my impatience I am a stumbling block to the
healthy; by my patience I am teaching them how to accept God's
will.
10. I believe that my sickness is a special letter from God to me in
which He says: "I love you, and that is why I want you to think
about your home in heaven.

THE WILDERNESS SPEAKS: LENTEN JOURNEY
February 20-22 Friday 7:15PM-Sunday 1:30PM
Follow Jesus into the wilderness for greater solitude. Take time
to deepen your spiritual journey in silence during Lent. The
opening session will involve prayer, relaxation and preparation
for the retreat with some materials for possible use during the
retreat. The retreat will close with group prayer and sharing. For
those who wish, a spiritual director will be available to listen
with you as you discern the actions of God in your life. You are
also welcome to join the Benedictine Sisters for Liturgy of the
Hours and the Eucharist.
