Lenten Schedule and Lenten Norms
The Liturgical season of Lent begins February 18th. The following are guidelines of Lenten observances for the faithful in
the Archdiocese of Ottawa: Fasting binds all persons who have completed their 18th birthday through those who have
completed their 59th year, unless prevented by poor health. On days of fast, one full meal is allowed. Two other meals,
sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to one’s own needs. Eating between meals is not allowed although
fluids may be taken. Abstinence binds all persons who have completed their 14th birthday, unless prevented by poor
health. In the Archdiocese of Ottawa, the consumption of meat is not allowed on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all
Fridays of Lent. The Archbishop mandates this observance for the spiritual well-being of the faithful.

RESURRECTION SUNDAY, April 5 – 9am Mass at St Clares and 10:30am Mass at St Philips
CANCELLATIONS: Monday April 6th there will be no afternoon adoration, no 7pm Mass and no Bible study.

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE – 6PM Feb 18th
Ash Wednesday is on February 18th. There will be an
evening service for parishioners at 6pm. Also, for school
children in the morning (9:30 in the school).

SUMMER INSTITUTE -NEW EVANGELIZATION:
Theological formation, practical ministry training and
leadership skill development. SINE is a collaborative effort
between Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO), the faculty of
Theology at Saint Paul University and Mission of the
Redeemer Ministries. August 4-14 at Saint Paul University
or remotely though online streaming video. Course work
can be used for credit or to obtain a Certificate in
“Leadership in the New Evangelization.” (ustpaul.ca/

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION - LENT
During Lent, the sacrament of Reconciliation will be
regularly available before Saturday evening Mass from
3:30pm to 4:15pm, as well as by request (call the office).
