We are really excited about our time together in the Peak District, please do be praying for a time of Encounter with our amazing God! Here is some key information that you'll need to know. Dates & Times: Depart: Monday 16 February, 10.00am from Burnholme Community College car park. Arrive back: Thursday 19 February, 4.30pm* at Burnholme Community College car park. SatNav: YO31 0GW * If there is any unexpected major change in timings we will make sure your child makes contact with you. Location: Peak Centre, Edale, Hope Valley, S33 7ZA Contact: There is a payphone at the Peak Centre should you wish to contact your child during the week. 01433 670277 Travel & Transport: We will be travelling there and back on a coach with Stephensons of Easingwold Ltd. We will also have a private car travelling with us for use whilst on location. Food: We are staying at a self catering facility and responsibility for cooking meals will be overseen by a member of our team. Young people will be involved in the preparation and cooking of meals. Three meals will be available each full day we are present. Please bring a packed lunch & drink on the Monday we travel. Accommodation: We will be sleeping in a mix of small single sex rooms and members of the youth team will have separate rooms but nearby at all times in case of emergency. Shower & toilet facilities are available and easily accessible at all times. All bedding is provided but you may want to bring your own pillow. Medical Information & Dietary Requirements: We should already know this information from the consent form you provided us when you booked your place. If there is any other information you think we should know, please do let us have this. Kit list: A kit list is provided as an attached document. Rules: A list of rules is provided as an attached document. Talent Contest: On one evening there will be a Belfrey Youth’s Got Talent contest. Please bring an instrument or any other props/equipment you may need to participate in this fun activity. The youth team are already rehearsing their act! Fancy Dress: On the last night we’ll be having a disco party. Please try to bring something interesting to wear. Cake: Please bring a cake to share in a labelled Tupperware box. Programme: Our days will include a variety of centre based sessions and activities and at times we may venture off site. The main emphasis over the four days will be teaching, worship, creating and building community centred around a main theme. Free Time: We understand that many young people have school/college work to complete over February half term. There will be opportunities throughout the four days to find time and a space to do necessary work. Pocket money (no more than £10) Football/sport gear Musical Instrument (if you play one) Talent Contest props/equipment Weekend Away Rules The general rule for Encounter youth residential is Respect . Respect property, respect leaders, respect other people, respect the environment, etc. The following lists some more specific rules and expansions of the respect rule. 1. Boys are not allowed in girl’s rooms or girls in boy’s rooms during sleeping hours under any circumstances 2. There will be no swearing, drinking, fighting or other disrespectful behaviour 3. You must stay on site at all times and meet with the leaders at agreed times 4. After dark do not leave the Peak Centre without a leader’s permission and supervision 5. After bed time the only reason to leave the assigned room for sleeping is for a brief toilet visit 6. Go to bed when told by the leaders 7. You may be expected to help with all housekeeping jobs including the clean up on the last day 8. Mobile phones & electronic devices are not allowed during meetings (we advise leaving the at home to avoid damage / loss) 9. You must attend all organised activities 10. You must listen to the leaders and do as you are asked 11. Any other suitable rules made by the leaders whilst away for the weekend Discipline Breaking minor rules such as being disrespectful will result in a receiving a warning. If you receive 3 warnings we will contact your parents / guardians to have words with you about your behaviour. If you break one of the major rules, repeatedly break rules or break multiple rules of any kind we will ask for you to be collected and taken home.
