(2000) Criminal Investigation, Anderson publishing comp. Cincinatti, OH, USA. Študenti podrobneje spoznajo kriminalistično taktiko (zbiranje informacij, načrtovanje preiskovanja, indicialno metodo, izvajanje operativnih in preiskovalnih dejanj, kriminalistično analitiko, uporabo poligrafa in drugih posebnih metod in sredstev) in se seznanijo z osnovami kriminalistične tehnike oz. forenzičnih znanosti (vrsto sledov in njihovo spoznavno in dokazno vrednostjo, posameznimi vrstami preiskav: daktiloskopske, balistične, grafoskopske, biološke, kemijske, fizikalne preiskave) ter njihovo praktično uporabnostjo. Objectives: Students should understand criminal investigation/criminalistics as a science and practical knowledge of detection, investigation and establishing evidence of criminal offences. They should learn the origins and development of criminal investigation/criminalistics, its structure and methods and its role in criminal and other procedures. Students get knowledge of crime investigation tactics (gathering of information, planning, interviewing, using of clues, crime scene investigation, reconstruction and use of special methods - polygraph, etc.) and forensic sciences (traces, special biological, chemical and physical methods of investigation of traces and physical evidence) and their practical application in crimnal investigation. Prenesljive/ključne spretnosti in drugi atributi: Študenti pridobijo praktične spretnosti analiziranja preiskovalnih situacij, načrtovanja preiskovanja in sestavljanja verzij ter izvajanja ogleda kraja dejanja, intervjuja in zaslišanja, rekonstrukcije, hišne in osebne preiskave in drugih operativnih policijskih opravil. Metode poučevanja in učenja: Predavanja z uporabo power point prezentacij, video posnetkov, praktičnih demonstracij in analizo aktualnih kriminalističnih primerov in pomembnejših zadev iz preteklosti; diskusije o problemih in dilemah preiskovanja; vaje na simuliranih situacijah; individualni nastopi študentov s predstavitvijo posameznih tem; iskanje in uporaba internetnih in drugih virov; individualne konzultacije s predavateljem. Intended learning outcomes: Knowledge and Understanding: Students get the knowledge of theoretical basics of detection and investigation of criminal offences and about problems and difficulties in practical criminal investigation. They learn about methods and means of criminal investigation and their application in practical detective work. They get to understand the role of forensic sciences and most often mistakes regarding material evidence. Transferable/Key Skills and other attributes: Students acquire practical skills to evaluate the investigative situations and to plan the investigation, build hypothesis as well as conduct crime scene search, make interviews and interrogations, conduct search of persons and premises and execute other operative police tasks. They are also capable of searching for traces and other material evidence and for their evaluation. Learning and teaching methods: - Power point presentation, videos, case analysis, discussions of current cases, simulation of situations, individual studies, use of literature and Internet sources, consultations with the professor, practical exercises and individual presentations. Za vaje je potreben tudi kovček z osnovno opremo za izvajanje ogleda kraja dejanja, lutka za simulacijo žrtve ter oprema za avdio/video snemanje Material conditions for subject realization Lecture room with standard audio/video and computer equipment, special room for simulation of crime scene investigation, house searches, interviewing and interrogation, video camera, case with the equipment for basic crime scene investigation. Student’s commitments: Students must prepare a written report on special topic and present it before their colleagues. This is a prerequisit for the examination and has a value of 30 percent of final points. The examination is either written examination (if more than 10 students) with multi choice answer/question test (50%) and essay questions (50%), or oral with three basic open questions.
