Professional Automotive Stand-alone multiradio modules with Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Highlights • Dual-band Wi-Fi 2.4 & 5 GHz • Dual-mode Bluetooth v4.0 (Bluetooth Smart Ready) • Concurrent multiradio connections • Embedded Wi-Fi driver, Bluetooth stack, and application • IPv4 and limited IPv6* • Micro access point* • RMII for Ethernet* • Enterprise security ODIN-W262: 14.8 x 22.3 x 4.5 mm Product description Access Point, high speed interfaces like RMII, and support for custom embedded applications. Using Bluetooth low energy the module will also be able to access any Bluetooth Smart device that implements services based on the Generic Attribute Profile (GATT), such as a low energy battery service or an automation I/O service. The ODIN-W2 is a compact yet powerful stand-alone multiradio module, designed for Internet-of-Things applications. The module is complete with embedded driver, stack and application for wireless data transfer and AT-command configuration. The wireless support includes dual-mode Bluetooth v4.0 (classic Bluetooth and Bluetooth low energy), plus dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and full 5 GHz band). The module is professional grade with an extended operating temperature range. The radio type approvals for US, Europe, Japan and Canada simplifies and shortens the integration work. The module can be used as a point-to-point serial cable replacement. It also supports multiple concurrent Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections that can operate in Wireless Multidrop or Extended Data Mode for advanced multipoint capabilities. The ODIN-W2 can also be used in applications where a smartphone, tablet or laptop is to connect to a serial device such as a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Example use cases: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth serial cable replacement Wi-Fi and Bluetooth serial/terminal server* Wi-Fi and Bluetooth access point* Gateway between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth* Coming extensions of the module firmware include micro Product selector • • W/LE Sec ODIN-W262 v4.0 SDPG • • 16 dBm TBD • • I • • • • 1.3 TBD • • • W/LE Sec S = SPP D = DUN P = PAN* G = GATT* E = U.FL connector(s) for external antenna I = Internal antenna LE = Bluetooth low energy W = WLAN / Wi-Fi * = available in firmware 2.0 ** = available in firmware 3.0 UBX-15004332 - R01 Objective Specification Automotive Android connectivity 1.3 TBD • Professional Extended Data Mode protocol • Wi-Fi Security Bluetooth throughput (Mbps) • iOS connectivity Solder pads • AT command support Power supply: 3.0 - 3.6 V • Wi-Fi throughput (Mbps) RMII* E Max range, in meters • Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 (a/b/g/n**) • Low Energy Serial Port Service • 19 dBm TBD Bluetooth profiles ODIN-W260 v4.0 SDPG • Bluetooth qualification UART Grade Antenna type Features 5 GHz channels 36-165 Interfaces Power Connectors 2.4 GHz channels 1-13 Max output power incl. antenna Radio Standard Model Sec = WPA2, Enterprise, EAP-TLS* SHORT RANGE ODIN-W2 series Standard Features Standard Professional Automotive Package Wi-Fi standards IEEE 802.11 a, b, g, n** IEEE 802.11 d, e, i, h Dimensions 14.8 x 22.3 x 4.5 mm (internal antenna) 14.8 x 22.3 x 3.0 mm (external antenna) Wi-Fi channels 2.4GHz: 1-13 5 GHz: 36-165 (U-NII Band 1, 2, 2e, 3) Mounting Solder edge pads with castellations (visually inspectable) Wi-Fi maximum IEEE 802.11n** (20 MHz channel): transfer rates MCS 0-7 (SISO): 72 Mbps MCS 8-15 (MIMO): 144 Mbps IEEE 802.11a/g: 54 Mbps IEEE 802.11b: 11 Mbps Wi-Fi MIMO 2x2 MIMO** (external antenna version only) Environmental data, quality & reliability Operating temperature –40°C to +85°C Bluetooth v4.0 (Bluetooth low energy and Classic Bluetooth with EDR) Electrical data Antenna Internal antenna or dual U.FL connectors for external antennas Power supply 3.0 - 3.6 VDC Output power Internal/external antenna: Wi-Fi: 16/19 dBm Classic Bluetooth: 10/13 dBm Bluetooth low energy: 7/10 dBm Power consumption TBD Certifications and approvals Software features Embedded software u-blox Wi-Fi driver u-blox Bluetooth stack Serial port application Combined IPv4 and limited IPv6* stack Wi-Fi Security WEP 64/128 WPA and WPA2 TKIP and AES/CCMP hardware accelerator LEAP, PEAP, EAP-TLS* Wi-Fi operational μAP* (DFS channels excluded) modesStation, 10 different SSIDs can be configured for roaming between different networks Bluetooth profiles u-blox Low Energy Serial Port Service and services GATT* SPP DUN PAN* roles: PANU & NAP Low energy roles: Central, Peripheral Max. number of connections 7 Bluetooth + multiple TCP/UDP Type approvals Europe (ETSI R&TTE) US (FCC/CFR 47 part 15 unlicensed modular transmitter approval) Canada (IC RSS) Japan (MIC - formerly TELEC) R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC Effective use of frequency spectrum EN 300 328 EMC EN 301 489-1, EN 301 489-17, EN 61000-6-2 Health & Safety Compliance: EN 62479, EN 60950-1, IEC 60950-1 Medical Electrical Equipment IEC 60601-1-2 Bluetooth Qualification v4.0 Interfaces UART RMII* 2 U.FL antenna connectors (external antenna version only) Support products Wireless Multidrop™ for concurrent connections to Wi-Fi, Classic Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy EVK-W262U Evaluation kit with USB for ODIN-W262 Extended Data Mode™ for individually controlled multipoint data channels Repeater mode for hostless gateway functionality between different technologies or extended range* Product variants Android connectivity ODIN-W260 Module with dual U.FL connectors for external antennas for MIMO** support ODIN-W262 Module with internal antenna iOS connectivity (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth low energy only) Legal Notice u-blox reserves all rights to this document and the information contained herein.
