2015 UPVST Friendship Meet
Invitation and Information Kit
PURPOSE OF THE MEET
The 2015 UPVST Friendship Meet is a fundraising event which seeks to attain the following
purposes:
1. This meet provides an opportunity to participate in a quality and efficient swimming
competition that is designed for local and international participants. This
competition creates a challenge to the swimmers in order for them to reach their
full potential.
2. To provide a harmonious event for the coaches and swimmers to interact, exchange
ideas, and learn more possibilities in the area of the sport.
3. To provide a friendly competition between the swimmers in order for them to be
encouraged and inspired to develop further their skills.
ELIGIBILITY
The 2015 UPVST Friendship Meet is open to all local and international swimmers whose
personal best times are qualified to the given cut off times. (See QET table below)
MEET INFORMATION
Competition Details
Title: 2015 UPVST Friendship Meet
Date: March 7-8, 2015
Venue: Rizal Memorial Sports Complex Swimming Pool
Meet Host: University of the Philippines Varsity Swim Team
Schedule:
7:00 AM – 7:40 AM – Warm up (OPEN LANES)
7:15 AM – Lanes 1 & 8: SPRINT LANES
7:45 AM – 7:55 AM – Meeting of Official Coaches
8:15 AM – Start of Competition
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Rules
All heats are TIMED FINALS.
Referee’s decision is FINAL.
One start rule shall be applied throughout the meet. Overhead start can be applied by the
meet director if necessary.
Events may be combined or re-seeded to facilitate better meet operation, with results
separated afterwards.
Entry Regulations
1. Age of reckoning shall be age as of March 7, 2015
2. If swimmer is 11 years or older, he/she may enter up to eight (8) individual events
for both days plus two (2) relays. If swimmer is 10 years or younger, he/she may
enter up to four (4) individual events plus two (2) relays.
3. To participate, swimmers must meet the Qualifying Entry Times (QET) in their
respective events of his/her age group. (See QET Table below)
AGE GROUPS: 10&under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17, 18&over
4. Long Course entry times must have been achieved in a Long Course (50m) pool.
5. On-deck entries are NOT allowed.
6. Changes to entries on the day of competition will not be accepted.
Entry Fees
1. Meet entry fee is Php.700.00 per swimmer.
2. Entry fees in check must be payable to UP Varsity Swim Team.
3. Entry fees are NOT refundable.
4. Entry forms must be accompanied by full payment of registration and entry fees.
Entry Forms
1. Entries must be submitted to the email address given below using the entry form
provided in this kit.
2. Entry fees must be submitted with entry forms, otherwise the entries will not be
processed.
3. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED USING THE OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM.
4. No seed time submitted will be declared NT.
5. Entries must be duly signed by the team’s respective coaches.

Entry Deadline
(February 20, 2015). Late entries will not be accepted unless otherwise stated by the
organizers. A confirmation email will be sent acknowledging the submission of entries.
Protest and Appeals
Protest must be submitted:
1. In writing addressed to the Referee by the Team Coach ONLY.
2. Together with a deposit of P1,000.00, 30 minutes after the posting of the result
of the contested event. The Referee shall consider all protests. If he rejects the
protest, he must state the reason for his decision.
3. If the protest is rejected, the deposit will be forfeited. If a protest is upheld, the
deposit will be returned.
Protest Committee
1. A protest committee composed of the Referee, Meet Director, two (2) Coach
representatives, and one (1) Technical Official acting at large will be established to
act upon any administrative protest filed at the meet.
2. A P 1000.00 protest fee must accompany formal protest letters to be considered
valid. Protest must be filed within 30 minutes from the time a negative decision has
been rendered.
3. The committee will not act upon any technical swimming Judgment decisions, as
these are under the jurisdiction of the Referee. The Referee’s decision is final.
Safety Guidelines
Swimmers Responsibilities:
1. All swimmers without a registered coach to observe them at the meet, and/or their
coaches should arrange, prior to their arrival at the meet, for a registered coach to
observe them during the warm-up, competition, and warm-down.
Coaches Responsibilities
1. Coaches shall instruct their swimmers regarding safety guidelines and warm-up
procedures as they apply to conduct at meets and practice.
2. Coaches shall stand near the starting end of the pool when starting swimmers on
sprint and pace work.
3. Coaches shall actively supervise their swimmers throughout the warm-up session.
4. Coaches shall maintain as much contact with their swimmers as possible, both
verbal and visual, throughout the warm-up period.
Other Information
Meet programs will be given to the coaches after the coaches' meeting before the start of
the meet.
Smoking is NOT ALLOWED in the competition venue.
AWARDS
Individual Awards
Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers for Boys and Girls in their age band.
AGE BANDS: 6&under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17, 18&over
(Gold for 1st, Silver for 2nd, and Bronze for 3rd)
Trophies will be awarded for the Most Outstanding Swimmers in each Age Group Category
for both Boys and Girls.
Team Awards
Trophies shall be awarded to the Over-All Champion, the 1st Runner-up and the 2nd
Runner-Up based on the combined score for boys and girls events of the team.
POINTS
Individual Points
(1st-9), (2nd-7), (3rd-6), (4th-5), (5th-4), (6th-3), (7th-2), (8th-1)
Relay Points
(1st-20), (2nd-16), (3rd-12), (4th-10), (5th-8), (6th-6), (7th-4), (8th-2)
In case of a tie, the number of medals starting with the gold, silver, and bronze will be taken
into account.
