9:00 am at Guadalupana. Parents and Godparents must attend
this class prior to scheduling baptism.
MARRIAGES: If you are planning to be married at Blessed
Trinity, your preparation process should begin at least four (4)

during your time of engagement and preparation for the vocation
of Christian marriage. Call the Church Office for an appointment
with one of our priests.

STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK
The waters of Baptism make us part of the new covenant in Christ. But the bishops’
pastoral letter on stewardship reminds us that “there is a fundamental obligation arising
from the Sacrament of Baptism...that people place their gifts, their resources—their
selves—at God’s service in and through the Church.”

WORD OF LIFE
“Our culture … has become hardened to many who cry
out. We idolize the strong and beautiful and tend to
disregard the weak and imperfect. In our own lives, have
we been programed not to call for help ourselves or to
look past those who do?”

It is no surprise that water literally runs through all the readings on
this First Sunday of Lent — from the flood waters experienced by
Noah in Genesis, to St. Peter comparing Baptism to this flood, to
Jesus venturing into the desert for 40 days immediately after His
Baptism, as reported by St. Mark.
There are more than 700 references to water in Holy Scripture, but
as we begin our Lenten journeys, our concentration needs to be on
our own Baptism and our personal Baptismal call. Stewardship has
been defined as our response to that Baptismal call through
discipleship and service. Just as Jesus entered the desert for 40 days, we are doing the same during Lent.
Defining our Baptismal call is part of what we should be striving to do at this time. Baptism calls us to a sense of
mission. Another key word in today’s scripture is “covenant.” The reading from Genesis speaks to God’s covenant
with us, His people. A covenant, nevertheless, is a two-way street. God has blessed us with the Holy Spirit and the
Lord has promised us everlasting life if we fulfill His desires. It is time for us to discover how we are going to live
out our covenant with God.

spread of the Gospel through our Diocese of
Orlando. It is the obligation of all Catholics who are
serious about their Baptism to make a response. Feel
good and joyful about being a vital part in the spread
of the Gospel. If you have not understood this in the
past make this your year to get involved. Thanks.

concluding at 8:00pm. It’s March, a new month and a new
challenge: seek to encounter Christ through His Word!
Tonight we will discuss ways to integrate Scripture into our

Liturgy of the Word during Mass. When it is proclaimed, we
hear the voice of God—are we aware of this, and embracing
this?

MINISTRIES
CATHOLIC HEART WORK CAMP
On the dates of June 7-12, about 10-15 students and adults
from our church will be attending the Catholic Heart Work
Camp in Atlanta, Georgia. This is the third year that we have
had a group of students and adults wanting to do some type
of mission work in our own country. Catholic Heart Work
Camps provide teens and adult leaders service opportunities
to work with those less fortunate through painting,
landscaping, and simple home repair. Some camp
participants also offer other types of assistance (working with
children, the disabled and elderly) while partnering with
social agencies in the area. It is a youth friendly Christ
centered Week of caring for others and fellowship with other
youth. The total cost of the camp is $330 for each
participant. We are looking for donations to help defray the
cost of the trip for the participants. It would be a blessing if
we could raise at least $1500.00 to make it easier for our
teens to go. We are confident that there are at least 150
people out there who would be willing to each donate $10 to
help the participants have a memorable experience this
summer serving around the Atlanta area. Make checks out to
Blessed Trinity, putting CHWC in the memo section and
deliver to the church office in an envelope marked Catholic
Heart Work Camp.
You may contact Jane Hoesterey at 352-266-6499 after 5 PM
or [email protected] (putting CHWC in subject line) if
further questions or if you wish to join our group.
STEWARD SAINTS OF THE WEEK
Sixth Annual Blessed Trinity
Great Outdoors Raffle
Week of February 22-28
February 22—Chair of Peter
February 23—Polycarp
CHAIR OF PETER
This feast which celebrates the primacy of St. Peter and his
successors as Bishop of Rome, has many implications for
stewardship. First, consider that Peter was given this role by
Christ. The role itself is a gift, and it is the power of God acting
through him, not the personal strength of Peter himself, which
enables him to function in it. The authority of the office is
God’s authority. Peter has been entrusted with the keys to the
kingdom, but he is the steward only, not the owner or the
source, of the power that he wields. Remember, too, the
post-resurrection conversation that ratified the conferring of
this gift on Peter. “Do you love Me?” Jesus asked. And three
times, in response to Peter’s anxious assurance, Jesus
commands, “Feed my sheep!” The message is clear -- if you
love Me, put that love into action. Use the gifts I have given
you to serve My people. He asks the same of us. When we
have proclaimed our love and said “Yes” to the invitation to
follow him, then we must demonstrate that love by using all
that has been entrusted to us to love and serve his people.
The life of prayer and contemplation founded on the
Eucharistic mystery is also at the heart of the vocation of
consecrated people who have chosen the path of the sequela
Christi, to give themselves to the Lord with an undivided heart
in an ever more intimate relationship with him. By their
unconditional attachment to Christ and to his Church, they
have the special mission to reminding everyone of the
universal vocation to holiness ... Consecrated men and
women proclaim that God alone can give fullness to human
existence.

LAY ECCLESIAL MINISTRY
Did you know…? Your gifts to Our Catholic Appeal provide co-workers for the vineyard of the
Lord.
Through your gifts to Our Catholic Appeal, the Diocese of Orlando is able to offer CLEM, a formation and theological
education program for those men and women who, upon recommendation of their pastors, have been called to serve
the parishes of our Diocese as Commissioned Lay Ecclesial Ministers. After three years of comprehensive theological
study and pastoral formation, these lay persons are commissioned by the Bishop in a public ceremony and empowered
to use their new skills to serve the needs of the church.
The CLEM Program is offered in both English and Spanish and is
based at the San Pedro Spiritual Development Center, which also
receives annual support from Our Catholic Appeal. Please visit
the San Pedro website at www.sanpedrocenter.org for more
information.
Please visit www.cfocf.org/OCA/give to make a gift online.

LENTEN REGULATIONS
Fast & Abstinence:
Ash Wednesday, February 18th and Good Friday, April 3rd
are days of Fast & Abstinence.
Fasting is to be observed by all 18 years of age and older,
who have not yet celebrated their 59th birthday. On a fast
day one full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to
maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s
needs, but together they should not equal another full
meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but
liquids, including milk and juices are allowed.
Abstinence is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On
days of abstinence no meat is allowed. Note that when
health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the
law does not oblige. When in doubt concerning fast and
abstinence, the parish priest should be consulted.
Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are the three traditional
disciplines of Lent. The faithful and catechumens should
undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance

OPERATION RICE BOWL
Pick up your Rice Bowl
TODAY after Mass. Start using
it this week on Ash
Wednesday as you fast from
meat and between meals by
giving a donation to your Rice Bowl. Join us on our
seven week journey through Lent by participating in
Operation Rice Bowl. (School Children and GIFT
students should already have a Rice Bowl).
