“Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed.”
There are scores of instances in the Four Gospels which indicate Jesus praying. He often would go
off alone to pray, but He also prayed with others publicly; He prayed before He made a choice,
before He healed someone, and He was just as likely to pray after as well.
St. Paul exhorts us to “pray constantly, never ceasing.” Jesus perhaps more than any other fulfilled
this admonition. He provides to us the perfect example of both how we should pray and in what
ways. Prayer is at the foundation of our faith; it is at the core of a stewardship way of life.
Developing an ongoing, consistent, and active prayer life is paramount for each of us.
Prayer not only indicates our constant awareness of God, but it enhances our lives, and is an
indication of our total trust in God. Trust in God is also an important facet of stewardship. Knowing
that we are in God’s hands and in His care is what strengthens us and allows us to make the
commitment Jesus has asked us to make. One of Jesus’ final prayers is one which offers us the
suggestion of how we need to approach life: “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.”

Sunday, February 8th: Join us for Mass, dinner & Life Night,
concluding at 8:00pm. Each of us being created in the image
& likeness of God, have been given a desire & drive to want
to worship and be in relationship with God. This desire can
be distorted through sin, and we can begin to worship things
other than God. When this happens, our view of God,
religion, and ourselves can become distorted. God teaches
us how to worship him through the Mass! Tonight we will
seek to identify areas of our lives where we worship
something other than God, and to place God in those areas.
Sunday, February 15th: Join us for Mass, dinner & Life Night,
concluding at 8:00pm. The season of Lent begins this week,
on Ash Wednesday!! Come out to Life Night, where we will
begin with a comical video of interviews from the street,
where people are asked questions about Lent. We will learn
how the Church encourages us to contemplate the invitation
to sacrifice, especially during Lent; also that the action of
repentance is not only turning away from something bad, but
turning toward something good!
CHRIS TOMLIN CONCERT! Chris Tomlin, Tenth Avenue North
& Rend Collective will be in Gainesville on Tuesday, February
24th. Cost is $25 to include tickets and transportation. Sign
up with Julie as soon as you can, for our group to secure our
seats. We saw Chris Tomlin in Gainesville, back in 2013, and
it was an AMAZING concert!!

MINISTRIES
SPIRITUAL ADOPTION OF UNBORN BABIES
Sixth Annual Blessed Trinity Great
Outdoors Raffle
Blessed Trinity parish, with the help of our parish respect Life
Ministry is now sponsoring the Spiritual Adoption Program which
asks individual members or families to pray daily for nine months
for a baby who is in danger of abortion. If you participate you will
be imitating the innkeeper who provided shelter to Mary and
Joseph in Bethlehem.
Every vocation to consecrated life is born in
contemplation, from moments of intense communion and
from a deep relationship of friendship with Christ, from
the beauty and light which was seen shining on his face.
Mother Teresa once said, “Without prayer there is no faith;
without faith no love; without love no service; and without service
no joy, no peace.”
—Starting Afresh from Christ: A Renewed Commitment to
Consecrated Life in the Third Millennium, no. 9
This Spiritual Adoption Program involves:
1.
2.
3.
STEWARD SAINTS OF THE WEEK
It is an opportunity to pledge a daily prayer for nine months for
a baby who is in danger of abortion. The Spiritual Adoption
prayer cards can be found in the Parish Hall the 2nd Sunday of
each month at coffee & donuts. You will find other useful
materials also there. These prayer cards can also be found at
the Hospitality Center in the vestibule. Include the parents of
the unborn baby you wish to adopt in your prayer. Ask God to
give them the courage to imitate Mary & Joseph by giving a
simple “yes” to bring forth their child.
You can also help to educate others about the development of
the pre-born baby. Visit coffee & donuts in the Parish Hall the
2nd Sunday of each month. There you will find new materials
each month to help you.
Where possible gather baby items for Brother’s Keeper or the
Pregnancy Center. You will thereby be imitating the Magi by
donating gifts (baby items) to young moms in need.
To help stop the anti-life push around the world, the late
Archbishop, Fulton J. Sheen encouraged the spiritual adoption of
an unborn baby.
The brief but powerful prayer is: “Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love
you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby
that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”
Your prayers will make a difference.

In 1858, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to a young girl
named Bernadette Soubirous near Lourdes, France, and
identified herself as “the Immaculate Conception.” In a series
of visions, she directed the girl to prevail upon the priests to
build a chapel near a tiny stream there and to pray for the
conversion of sinners. In the years that followed, Lourdes
became a place of pilgrimage and healing. But the relevance of
this feast does not lie solely in the many miracles that have
occurred there, “but on the ‘prolonged miracle’ of the effects
of the paschal mystery on our physical, moral, or spiritual
weakness. To bathe in the waters of Lourdes is to return, as it
were, to the font of our baptism and to rise from sin to new
life.” This feast invites us to recall the beginning of our
discipleship and to recommit ourselves to Jesus, wholly and
without qualification, as Mary did when she uttered her first,
trusting “Yes” to the Lord. Oh Mary, conceived without sin,
pray for us who have recourse to you.
DRESSED FOR THE LORD!
Attention all Choir Members, Lectors, EMHC, and sacristans
regarding ALL Masses (weekly and daily)
When deciding on attire for serving in any ministry at church,
the goal is to not wear anything that takes the focus off of
Jesus and the Mass and puts the focus on you. This is up to
the discretion of the person but will include keeping the
shoulders covered, not wearing anything above the knee, no
jeans, shorts, pants with holes, see-through clothes, flip flops,
etc. Even if you are not scheduled to serve, you may be
needed because someone did not show up, so try to come
prepared to serve.

Our catholic appeal
OUR CATHOLIC APPEAL
This year’s Diocesan “Our Catholic Appeal” will be presented
by our Bishop John Noonan at all the Masses on February
14th & 15th. Some of you will receive the annual request in
the mail because of having donated in previous years.
Blessed Trinity Parish is serious about its mission and we are
happy and proud to accept our fair share of the cost to
operate our great Diocese of Orlando with its many
worthwhile ministries that cannot be fulfilled by
individual parishes – such as Vocations, Catholic
Charities, Administration, Bishops Office, Long Range
planning, Office of Schools, Leadership training, Special
Schools, Retreats, etc…
Our fair share of the total cost for running the Diocese this
year is: $148,461.00.
Over the last several years, because so many of you strive to
do your fair share as a parishioner, our parish has been able
to meet its assigned goal. What we get over and above goes
into:
1. The Diocesan Priests Benevolent fund.
2. Long range Endowment for our parish (ie The Catholic
Foundation)
3. To supplement the current parish budget.
We encourage all parishioners to participate. If you have
given in the past strive to increase your pledge. If you are
giving for the first time use 1% of your gross as a guide.
Thanks.
OUR CATHOLIC APPEAL
DO EVERYTHING FOR THE GLORY OF GOD
St. Paul reminds us to “do everything for the glory of God.”
Our parish strives to glorify God daily through our ministries,
but we are only the starting point. Being Catholic means being
part of a larger family of faith. Because we are all one in
Christ, it is only right that we help His work to flourish in our
neighboring communities. Our Catholic Appeal mobilizes our
entire diocesan family to support ministries that benefit far
more people than we could ever reach alone.
You can visit www.cfocf.org/oca to learn more about the
life-changing impact of your gifts.
If you have already received a pledge form in the mail, please
complete it and mail it back or bring it to Mass with you next
weekend. If you did not receive a mailing or have not had
time to respond, please help our parish by making your gift at
Mass next weekend or the following weekend.
Our parish goal is $148,461.00. Once we achieve this goal, the
majority of the additional funds will be returned to our parish
to support our own special needs, including paying for book
and registration fees for needy students, for offertory shortfall
and our sister parish.
Thank you for your generosity!
