stop by the Parish Hall the first Sunday of each month following
the 8:45 am and 11:00 am Masses.
BAPTISM: We are pleased to help your family prepare for the
special event of your child’s entrance into our faith community.
To help parents and godparents prepare, a class (English) is held
the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Community
Center and in Spanish the 2nd Saturday of each month, at
9:00 am at Guadalupana. Parents and Godparents must attend
this class prior to scheduling baptism.
MARRIAGES: If you are planning to be married at Blessed
Trinity, your preparation process should begin at least four (4)
months prior to desired date. We look forward to helping you
during your time of engagement and preparation for the vocation
of Christian marriage. Call the Church Office for an appointment
with one of our priests.

member are in a local hospital or homebound and would like to
receive Communion or Sacrament of the Sick, please call the

Most of us have heard many times the story of how God tested Abraham, as
reported in our first reading from Genesis. Often there may be various
emotional reactions to the situation as it unfolds. However, there are two
important aspects of the narrative that we sometimes miss.
Yes, Abraham was tested, but so was his son Isaac. It would seem that Isaac
was a willing participant in the ordeal. Isaac clearly did not protest nor resist
lying on the altar in preparation for what would occur. Isaac offers an example
of one of the basic tenets of stewardship: he trusted completely in God (and in
his father, as well). That kind of total trust is difficult, but if we do not trust in
the Lord, it is hard for us to make the kind of commitment to stewardship and
discipleship the Lord wants from us.
The other feature of this story we sometimes miss is the parallel between
Abraham and his son, and what would occur between God and His only son,
Jesus Christ. Everything from the mountain to hauling the wood up the mountain to the father sacrificing his son to
deliverance from death is reminiscent of Christ’s sacrifice for us, and God’s willingness to offer “His only begotten
Son, that those who believe in him may not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

CHILDRENS OFFERINGS
Parents please encourage your children to bring a gift
for God each and every week and bring it up to the
Altar while adults are being passed the collection
basket. It does not have to be money. It really
should be their gift. At present it is mostly
pre-schoolers who come. But the plan was for all
youth—grade school up to and including 12th
grade—to come to the Altar. Encourage them. It is a
real life learning experience.

CATHOLIC HEART WORK CAMP
On the dates of June 7-12, about 10-15 students and adults
will be attending the Catholic Heart Work Camp in
Atlanta. Catholic Heart Work Camps provide teens and
adult leaders service opportunities to work with those less
fortunate through painting, landscaping, and simple home
repair and working with children, the disabled and
elderly. It is a youth friendly Christ centered Week of
caring for others and fellowship with other youth. The
total cost of the camp is $330 for each participant. It
would be a blessing if we could raise at least $1500.00 to
make it easier for our teens to go. We need at least 150
people to each donate $10 to help the participants. Make
checks out to Blessed Trinity, putting CHWC in the memo
section and deliver to the church office.

San Pedro will be offering “Joyful Again!” a retreat for all
widowed men and women, March 28 & 29, 2015, at San
Pedro Retreat Center in Winter Park.
“Joyful Again!” is a nationally recognized retreat. It
provides the widowed with support from others who
understand the loss associated with the death of a
spouse. “Joyful Again!” Is a two-day retreat for widows
and widowers who want to resolve the grief they feel
inside and begin to live again after the death of their
spouse. The retreat emphasizes self-help, personal
growth skills, and personal spiritual practices that will
enable the participant to take the healing journey.

The Annual Diocesan Stewardship Day has been planned
for May 5th at Holy Family, Orlando.
A very attractive number of key note speakers and
breakout sessions are planned to make sure your day is

BLESSED KATHERINE DREXEL
Katherine Drexel was born in Philadelphia just before the
Civil War. Her father was a very successful banker and
his death left her the heiress to a considerable fortune.
She and her sister resolved to use their wealth to help
others, and when she asked Pope Leo XIII for more
priests to minister to Native American populations, his
answer changed her life forever. “Why don’t you
become a missionary?” he suggested. After much
discussion and several years of training, she founded a
missionary community, the Sisters of the Blessed
Sacrament, whose special focus was the education of
Native Americans and African Americans. She founded
numerous schools and missions, and in 1915, established
Xavier University in New Orleans, the first university in
the country for African American students. Blessed
Katherine Drexel spent her life and her fortune helping
the poor, and she saw in the Eucharist, which was the
center and sustenance of her life, the source of unity
among the races. May her prayers and example
encourage us to work for justice among the poor and
oppressed and keep us undivided in love in the
Eucharist.

STEWARDSHIP 101
Stewardship 101 is a 45 slide and witness
presentation of the Spirituality of the Stewardship
Way of Life.
The next presentation will be held
MARCH 1 AND MARCH 15
at 10:00am in Room 102 of the school.
We encourage all, especially new families to go to one
of these listed sessions. All new school families (BT or
TCHS) are required to attend.

WORDS OF THANKS AND APPRECIATION
OUR CATHOLIC APPEAL
We are very grateful to all the families who have
responded. So far 250 have sent back their
Catholic Appeal pledge envelope. This does not include
pledges mailed to Orlando.
We have $93,734.37 in pledges.
Our parish assessment is $148,461.00.
We have $54,726.63 to go to meet our goal.
All we collect over and above stays in the parish. Our
Catholic Appeal envelopes are available in the vestibule.
Since last weekend was a “long weekend” many of you
were out of town.
Be proud of your Catholic Faith. Count it as a great
privilege (and responsibility) to be a vital part of the
mission of the Church in our diocese. Your donation/
pledge assures your role in all the ministries of the
Church. Your pledge is your thanksgiving response.
The Sisters of the Immaculate
Heart of Mary Reparatrix.
Blessed Trinity Parish, are
extremely grateful for the
wonderful support of the 8th
Annual Chili Supper. The funds
raised from this event will be
going to the repairs and improvement of the
water supply system at the sisters’ motherhouse in
Uganda, Africa.
Special thanks to all of the donors of food supplies
and baked goods, and the wonderful cooks who
prepared the meal, especially the dedication of time
and energy into making this a successful event.
Of course, it would not have been a success without
many parishioners and friends of the community
who came to enjoy the dinner and wonderful
desserts, as well as purchase the baked goods and
the extra chili-to-go.
Than you again, and may God reward and bless
everyone.

SHIRT RELIEF DRIVE

Let’s do it again! During Lent bring in long
sleeve shirts for the migrants. We’ll be
collecting shirts through March 21-22. Thank you, Blessed
Trinity parishioners for donating hundreds of shirts each
Lent. Look for the boxes out in the portico.
SOUP & BREAD DINNER
Brothers Keeper Soup Kitchen will be serving its fabulous
Soup & Bread dinner every Wednesday during Lent. Join us
in the Parish Hall from 5:15pm to 6:45pm. Use this meal as
a Lenten fast—the food is good for the body and the fast is
good for the soul.
