NASHUA POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Chief Andrew Lavoie For Immediate Release: February 27, 2015 Captain Denis Linehan Detectives Bureau Commander Phone: (603) 594-3550 Fax: (603) 594-3616 Contact: Lieutenant James Testaverde Criminal Investigation Division Phone: (603) 594-3553 On February 26, 2015 at approximately 3:24 PM members of the Nashua Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division arrested Ryan Luther, age 22, 70 Lane Street Apartment #9, Hudson, NH, for Theft by Unauthorized Taking, a Class B Felony, Resisting Detention, a Class A Misdemeanor, Resisting Arrest a Class A Misdemeanor, and Possession of a Controlled Drug, a Class A Misdemeanor. Luther was taken into custody in the area of Royal Crest Drive after a brief pursuit. On February 25, 2015 at 10:50 AM Nashua Officers responded to 5 Louisburg Square for the report of a theft. The victim stated that someone had stolen a family ring from her apartment and the victim believed it had been sold at a local pawn shop. The victim suspected Luther as a possible suspect as he is an acquaintance and had been around the residence recently. The ring was subsequently recovered at Trade Land pawn shop, 293 Daniel Webster Highway, Nashua, by Nashua Officers. On February 26, 2015 at approximately 5:21 PM members of the Criminal Investigation Division attempted to locate Ryan Luther in reference to this investigation. Luther was observed by detectives to be in a silver Honda Civic in the area of the Daniel Webster Highway. Detectives attempted a motor vehicle stop at which time the operator of the Honda, identified as Taequan Carter, age 22, of 45 Forge Drive, Nashua, refused to stop. A brief motor vehicle pursuit ensued south on the Daniel Webster Highway and into the Sports Authority parking lot, 213 Daniel Webster Highway. As the vehicle approached Sports Authority, Luther jumped out of the passenger seat and began to flee on foot. Luther was subsequently apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and taken into custody by detectives. Following his arrest a bag Marijuana was located on Luther’s person. As a result of the investigation Luther was charged with the above offenses. Carter was arrested and charged with Disobeying a Police Officer, Class A Misdemeanor, for failing to stop his vehicle and engaging in the pursuit. A Class B Felony is punishable by up to 7 years imprisonment, exclusive of fines. Each Class A Misdemeanor is punishable by up to a year in the County House of Corrections, exclusive of fines. Luther refused bail and is being held at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections pending his arraignment at the 9th Circuit-District Division-Nashua Court on February 27, 2015. Carter was released on $1000.00 personal recognizance bail pending his arraignment at the 9th Circuit-District Division-Nashua Court on April 1, 2015. CONTINUED...
