Minnesota fell 3-2 to Colorado on Sunday night in front of a sellout crowd of 19,119 at Xcel Energy Center. RW Chris Stewart and LW
Thomas Vanek each netted a goal while G Devan Dubnyk made 18 saves. Next up, Minnesota hosts its second contest of a three-game
homestand against New Jersey on Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT on FOX Sports North and KFAN 100.3 FM.
The Wild snapped its five-game winning streak, posting points in 20 of its last 24 games (18-4-2) and has 33 points (16-3-1) in 20 games
since the All-Star Break. Minnesota has points in 23-of-32 (71.9%) games at Xcel Energy Center this season (18-9-5), including seven
wins in the last nine home games.
Minnesota moves to a 22-13-5 record against Western Conference opponents, earning points in 13 of its last 16 games (12-3-1) and
points in 16-of-22 games against the Central division this season (12-6-4).
The Wild won the season series against the Avalanche posting a 4-1-0 record in five meetings, including three shutout victories. The
three shutouts against Colorado this year marked the second time in franchise history Minnesota has recorded at least three shutouts
against the same opponent in a single season since 2006-07 vs. EDM and according to Elias Sports Bureau, the first NHL team to
accomplish the feat since 2007-08.
Minnesota killed two-of-three of Colorado’s power-play opportunities, posting a 51-for-54 penalty kill percentage (94.4%) in its last 20
games. The Wild leads the NHL in penalty kill percentage on home ice this season (89.4%) and ranks second overall with 86.3%.
D Jonas Brodin registered his third career multi-point game, tallying two assists on the night. He has three helpers in his last five games
and owns 14 points (2-12=14) in 55 games this season. He leads the Wild with a plus-20 rating.
RW Chris Stewart scored his first goal in a Minnesota sweater. He has two points (1-1=2) in four games since being acquired March 2.
He has 27 points (12-15=27) in 65 games this season between the Sabres and the Wild.
With 18.7 seconds remaining in the game, LW Thomas Vanek scores the Wild’s second goal, his 14th of the season. He ranks third on
the team in scoring with 40 points (14-26=40) in 65 games this season.
RW Nino Niederreiter tallied the primary assist on Vanek’s goal. He has seven points (5-2=7) in his last 10 games and 32 points (2111=32) in 65 games this season. His 21 goals rank second on the Wild.
G Devan Dubnyk earns just his fourth loss in a Wild jersey. He is 18-4-1 with a 1.66 GAA, .937 SV%, five shutouts and two assists in a
franchise record 24 starts with Minnesota. He ranks first in the NHL in wins, T-1st in shutouts, T-2nd in GAA and third in SV% since
Jan. 15 amongst goalies with at least 10 games played.
C Mikko Koivu won 14-of-19 faceoffs (73.7%). The captain ranks third amongst all NHL players with 818 faceoff wins this season and
T-13th with a 55.2% faceoff win percentage. He has 12 points (3-9=12) in his last 17 games, 17 points (4-3=17) in his last 24 games and
ranks fourth on the team with 38 points (10-28=38) this season.
LW Cody McLeod,D Zach Redmond and LW Gabriel Landeskog each scored for Colorado. G Semyon Varlamov made 29 saves in
54:16 while G Reto Berra allowed one goal on four shots in relief.
