Plein Air 2015 Registration Materials
Come to Red Wing for the ninth annual 2015 Plein Air Art Festival June 22 to
27. Artists may apply as a Featured or Open Class Artist.
Featured Artists must submit all registration materials and commit to attend most plein air events for
the week. The selected artists will be featured in promotional materials and included in the Plein Air
Reception, June 26th and Gallery Show, June 27 – August 24, 2015. Registration Deadline for Juried
Artists is April 15, 2015.
Open Class Artists are required to register and are welcome to participate in designated open class
plein air events. Registered Open Class artists are invited to submit one painting to the open class
show. Artwork will be judged Friday afternoon and offered for sale during the Riverfront Reception
Friday, June 26th. The “Best Painting of Open Class” will be included in the gallery show and that
artist will be automatically juried into the 2016 Plein Air Festival. Registration is open through 10 am
June 22.

A waiting list of artists will also be selected by the committee.
RWAA Plein Air Artist Information
Featured Plein Air Artist information
To be considered for selection as a Featured Plein Air Artist, the following information must be
received by RWAA by April 15, 2015. You may submit the registration form and accompanying
materials by mail, email or in person.
! The registration form (see above)
! Three examples of current plein air artwork on CD or DVD, or in a high quality digital file
emailed to RWAA ([email protected])
! A one paragraph artist statement for promotional use (between 80 and 100 words)
! Indicate your selected image of a painting to be used in promotional materials
! A resume of your art education, experience and awards
The committee also considers the following:
! Artists selected will represent a variety of media and styles
! New artists are encouraged to apply
About the Event:
Three paintings per artist will be accepted for award consideration and hung in the Gallery for the
Friday Night Reception. The Quick Paint piece will be added to the show on Saturday prior to the
Grand Opening. Artwork not sold at the Reception and Grand Opening will be shown in the Plein Air
Gallery Show from June 27 – August 24, 2015. Artists are invited to have back-up pieces available to
replace sold pieces at the Reception. If you have shipping boxes we could use for your artwork sold,
we would greatly appreciate having them available.
Open Class Artist Information
The Open Class Artist option is available for artists that are interested in painting in a plein air event
without the extra pressure of the Featured Artist events. To attend the Plein Air Festival Reception,
Open Class Artists will need to purchase a ticket.
All that is required for participation as an Open Class Artist is to complete the application form and
submit your application fee to RWAA in advance or by 10 am, June 22, 2015.
