Chaplain’s Message
The Lenten Season offers us many unique opportunities to reflect on the Passion and
suffering of Christ in prayer. St. Andrew’s Annual Novena to the Infant of Prague
begins on Sunday, March 8 and concludes on Monday, March 16. These nine days of
prayer, right in the heart of Lent, are a great preparation for the feast of Easter. Also,
the moving devotion of the Stations of the Cross is offered each Friday of Lent at 7:00
PM.
Lenten fasts and spiritual works are also part of the discipline of Lent. Although
they have a tendency to be oriented toward things like giving up food or television, there
are many other creative ways we can fast and grow this Lent.
1. Fast from anger and hatred. Give your family an extra dose of love each day.
2. Fast from judging others. Before making judgments, recall how Jesus overlooks our
faults.
“As we live
3. Fast from discouragement. Hold on to Jesus’ promise that He has a perfect plan for
these Lenten
your life.
4. Fast from complaining. When you find yourself about to complain, close your eyes
and recall some of the little moments of joy Jesus has given you.
5. Fast from resentment and bitterness. Work on forgiving those who may have hurt
you.
6. Fast from spending too much money. Try to reduce your spending by ten percent
and give these savings to the poor.
7. Become more involved in your parish. Look into all the special ministries and services and pick one that you will enjoy participating in and join.
8. If you have an unresolved conflict, or if you have not forgiven some offense, make an
effort to reconcile.
9. Share your faith with a friend or neighbor. Spread the Gospel in your own community.
10. Strengthen family bonds. Spend time praying together and going to Mass as a family
whenever possible. Encourage family members to say the Rosary, and to pray daily.
11. Participate more fully in Mass, daily when possible, and on Sundays. Listen attentively to the Word of God, sing the hymns and receive Holy Communion with reverence
and devotion.

x Rejoice with Christ and the people on Palm Sunday
x Celebrate the Institution of the Holy Eucharist on Holy Thursday
x Watch with Christ as He makes His supreme sacrifice on Good Friday
x Join your sufferings with Christ’s and offer up your daily crosses
x Rejoice and enjoy Easter, a most meaningful and wonderful experience celebrating
Christ’s victory over death, our redemption and the renewal of our Baptismal promises

Grand Knights Report
Our Spring gun bash is just around the corner (March 22th) and
promises to be another fantastic event. Our event reputation is
growing into one of the premier events in the area. We will need
many event volunteers to make this go smoothly. Please call Earl
Birch at 814-288-4972
Due to changing times within our council, along with our aging
members, we have been reluctantly forced to scale back on several
traditional programs that many of the younger members participated in as youths. We now need to look toward our younger members for help running some of the traditional programs and continue on with the legacy that past members of K.o.C. council 11308
members had performed. With free time being at a premium for
our younger members, we've found that with the use of modern
technology for scheduling and communication the time needed to
organize and execute these event/programs can be dramatically
reduced. Our first gun bash event took weekly meetings months
in advanced to put it together. Once organized and streamed lined
we have it down to a few meetings, then the event. Again, I can not
stress enough for our members to please come to our meetings
and see if one of our programs may inspire you to help out with
one of the many School and Charity events we perform for the
parish.
The Novena begins on the 8th of March at 7;00 with Bishop Mark
attending the opening night. The color Corp will be present for
the opening and the closing ceremonies. We ordered “How to say
the Rosary” and “Guide to Confession” booklets that will be available for anyone in need.
With this Lenten season of renewal, let’s look forward to the joys
and new beginnings wishing our association with Christ
keeps blossoming in the days to come.
Happy Easter

"Dear Brothers and Sisters, Happy Easter!
The Church throughout the world echoes
the
angel's message to the women: "Do not be afraid!
I
know that you are looking for Jesus who was
crucified. He
is not here; for he has been raised.
Come, see
the place where he lay” (Mt 28:5-6).
