Rebuilding the Kingdom: Our Parish Family
Palm Sunday
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Patrick:
I greet you as we are about to embark on a journey
together through the week that changed the world
forever – the Holiest of Weeks which culminates with
the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Had Jesus not conquered death through His
Resurrection there would be no Church, no ministry
done in His name and no worship. All that we do
as members of the Saint Patrick Parish Family is
done to give honor and glory to Jesus – Who is alive
and lives forever!
Please take time to pray with me this Holy
Week. Attend an extra Mass this week.
See our schedule on page 3. Come and
celebrate the gift of forgiveness at our TriParish Reconciliation evening. Stop in
before or after work to pray privately with our Lord
and Savior. Attend the liturgies of the Triduum – Holy
Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. Come
and celebrate with our newest Catholic Christian, Jeff
Pelletier, as he becomes one of us through the
sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy
Eucharist.
The liturgies of this coming week are powerful,
beautiful, challenging and life-giving. They are all
“filled” with the rich symbolism of our Catholic faith
tradition. They remind us that we are truly the
beloved people of God.
You and I have so much for which to give thanks.
The greatest gift, however, is the gift of each other.
As we come together in faith and love and see each
other as gift, we find Jesus in our midst.
As you plan to worship with Jesus this Holy Season, I
invite you to bring along someone who has not been
to church for a while. This can be your gift to Jesus
this Easter – bringing one of His beloved sheep back
home.
JUST BRING THEM TO JESUS –
HE WILL TAKE IT FROM THERE!
In the name of my brother priests who serve our faith
family with great dedication, our Parish Pastoral Staff,
our Parish Pastoral Council, our Finance Council, and
all who minister in the Lord’s name, I wish you the
great joy of knowing that Jesus the Christ, our Lord
and Savior, is risen from the dead –just for you and
me... everyone!
Through the intercession of St. Patrick, the Apostle
of Ireland, I wish you and all your loved ones a most
joyous Easter Season.
Peace and blessings,
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
will take place after the 8am Mass on
every Monday until 9:30am.
Come spend an hour with the Lord.

ARCHBISHOP CUPICH PRESIDING
*(PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE)
Is today “Palm Sunday” or “Passion Sunday”? Though now
known officially as Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord, confusion is
understandable, since before the 1969 reform of the calendar two separate
Sundays bore these titles. Passion Sunday was a week before Palm Sunday. To
add to the confusion, the Gospel accounts of the Passion of the Lord were not
read on Passion Sunday, but on Palm Sunday! On Passion Sunday, the cross and
statues were veiled in full purple drapes. The organ had fallen silent at the
beginning of Lent, and now the sanctuary bells were replaced by wooden
clappers. The introit (opening chant) for the old Mass of Passion Sunday hints at
a reason for reform: “Do me justice, O God, and fight my fight against a faithless
people” (Psalm 42). This liturgy was laden with references to the “infidelity” of
the Jews, a theme that gave rise to inflammatory preaching and, in some places,
attacks against the persons and property of the Jewish people. This does not stand
as a “treasure” of any sort in our tradition. Our authentic tradition, rather, is the
ability to reflect and repent and to seek reconciliation with the Jews, our brothers
and sisters in the love and service of God.

Student Council
Lenten Service Project for Oxfam
Oxfam America is a global organization working to right the
wrongs of poverty, hunger, and injustice. Oxfam saves
lives, develops long-term solutions to poverty, and
campaigns for social change. Of the 10.9 million children
who die each year, poor nutrition plays a role in at least
half these deaths.
Student council is sponsoring a Lenten service project
where each class is collecting monetary donations for a
special gift to the people Oxfam serves. Each class will
have a specific goal to work toward. One class may be
collecting to donate a goat, another for mosquito nets, and
a third for chickens etc. The collection will run from
Monday, March 9, through Thursday, April 2. As a school
community we will help others, while also participating in a
meaningful activity that responds to our Lenten mandate
for charitable works.
5th Grade Girl
Scouts Earn the
Puella Mariae
Award
Many of our 4th and 5th grade Girl Scouts from Troop 368
recently worked to earn the Puella Mariae Medal and received
their award at Mass on Sunday, March 8, 2015. The proud
recipients included 5th graders Bridget, Ryan E., Sabrina,
Scarlett, Regan, Bianca and Ashley. Fourth grade Girl Scouts
Nicole, Jessica, Eileen, and Annalise also earned this important
symbol of their faith to Mary.
The Puella Mariae Medal is a special recognition that the
Archdiocese of Chicago awards to youth for advancement in
religious knowledge and spiritual formation. The Latin name
means "Child of Mary." The Puella Mariae program is designed
for junior level Girl Scouts to share discussions about and
devotions to Mary. The scouts had to read about the life of
Mary and discuss what kind of a person she must have been.
The girls learned about the many Feast Days of Mary, including
when each feast day occurs and why the church celebrates it.
Learning how to pray the Rosary and follow the mysteries of
the rosary and learning to pray the Memorare helped to bring
the scouts closer to Mary. These are just a few of the things
these Girl Scouts accomplished on their journey of faith as they
sought to earn their Puella Mariae medal. Their dedication and
faithfulness are a great example for all students.

(not)INVINCIBLE
“There is nothing for young
people to do, nor are there
support systems for youths in
Lemont”
On Thursday April 16th the (not)
INVINCIBLE Hall of Info will debunk that statement. Those present in the
halls outside of the Lemont High School Center for Performing Arts will be
promoting the amazing organizations, support systems, sports, liberal arts,
educational, physical, spiritual, nutritional, emotional and enriching
opportunities which are present in our community for our youth, teens and
young adults.
(not)INVINCIBLE is a multi-organization event and will be an engaging and
informational presentation targeted both to parents, teens and young adults, an
impactive evening that will educe conversation, awareness, and encourage
proactive and wise life-choices. The support system for this event will be each
of the “Hall of Info participants” who are present to promote their organization,
youth group, outreach, sport, music/art opportunities, club, etc.
This is a no-charge, no-risk, not to miss opportunity to spread the word
about what you have to offer! Your commitment is the time you are present
(6pm set up, 6:30-9:30event hours) and to bring flyers, pamphlets, business
cards, contact information, any promotion of your events/group/sport/counseling,
outreach or support service/any and all youth activities and meet all parents and
youth who will be in attendance for (not)INVINCIBLE.
Plan on bringing at least 300 pieces of information to share. Each attendee will
have a bag to collect and keep all of the information they receive that evening.
There will be fantastic raffle prizes offered and refreshments providing time for
conversation and interaction.
All persons leaving the Hall of Info will be educated and amazed at all of the
unknown treasures that lie ready to be explored here in the Lemont community.
You must pre-register to participate in the (not)INVINCIBLE Hall of
Info. Email [email protected] for a registration sheet and
more information.
