MMPL WINTER LEAGUE 2015
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION - PLEASE READ THIS MAILOUT CAREFULLY THERE IS IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL TEAMS AND MEMBERS
The MMPL aims to encourage 8-ball competition in Melbourne's inner suburbs. You are therefore cordially invited
to enter teams in this year's winter league.
INFORMATION & CALL FOR TEAMS;
The MMPL plays under World Rules. All matches are played on Tuesday nights starting at 7:00pm, with the home
and away Winter season running approximately 18 weeks, depending on team numbers. The 2015 season will start
on Tuesday 14th APRIL 2015 and run through to September 2015. If there are enough teams there will be a
Premier, First and Second Division, similar to last winter season.
The MMPL is calling for interested teams to register their interest by completing and forwarding a TEAM
NOMINATION form containing the names of at least 4 or 5 players, and including the names and contact details of
the Captain and a Delegate, by Tuesday 7th April 2015. In addition, any proposed team members who have not
previously registered in Winter 2014 or Summer 2014-15 are also required to complete a PLAYER
REGISTRATION form for Winter 2015 by Friday 17th April 2015, or within 10 days of first nominating or
playing. Forms can be emailed to [email protected] or faxed to the MMPL's fax number (03) 8080
6435.
All players must submit and forward player fee payment to the MMPL within 10 days of first nominating or playing,
i.e. by no later than Friday 17th April for first-round players. Team and player penalties will be applied
retrospectively if it is later found that teams have played players who have not paid their fees by the due date,
unless with prior approval of the MMPL Executive.
The 2015 Winter season format will most likely be the same as that used for last Summer (i.e. 5 players x 4 frames
each, plus tiebreaker best-of-three frames where required). Team Nominations will be accepted at the combined
Summer Presentation Night & Winter pre-season meeting to be held 7pm Tuesday 31st March at the Quarry Hotel
101 Lygon St Brunswick East.
Note: There must be a separate captain and MMPL delegate nominated for each team; each team must supply an
email address and telephone contact number for at least two team members, preferably including the Captain and
Delegate if possible; teams should only be entered once you are certain that you can field the minimum number of
players (5 players in Prem/Div1/Div 2).
By listing the names of players that you propose to enter, the MMPL executive committee will be able to determine
a suitable division for you; promotion and relegation of players for teams in different divisions from the same venue
will be considered; also, by entering this competition, the teams and players agree to abide by the MMPL
Constitution and Bylaws - refer to the MMPL Constitution & Bylaws on the MMPL website for more information
(www.mmpl.org.au/mmpl/resources.html). This document includes rules outlining the responsibilities of Captains
regarding player and spectator behaviour, and the responsibilities of players who may be officiating as umpires. It is
recommended that all players familiarise themselves with these rules.

FEES & REGISTRATION PAYMENTS -WINTER SEASON 2015:
Player Fee will be $100.00 – payable by Friday 17th April, or if paying by two instalments,
the 1st instalment of $50.00 by Friday 17th April, & the balance by Friday 5th June 2015;
this fee of $100 incorporates a Player Registration fee & a cover charge for the
end-of-season Presentation Dinner.
No Team Registration fees or Team bonds apply.
ADDITIONAL PLAYERS Additional players may be registered during the season – $50.00 payable within 10
days of the additional player's first match, with the $50.00 balance payable by Friday 5th June 2015.
CASUAL PLAYERS A match fee of $5.00 per round must be paid for all casual players that play for a team during
the winter season; a casual player is defined as a player who does not play sufficient rounds to qualify to play in
finals; based on the Winter season comprising 18 rounds, a casual player may play up to 8 rounds on this basis; if a
casual player desires to attend the annual Presentation Dinner, that casual player must pay the full $100.00 playing
fee. Qualification rules must be met in order for a player to be eligible for finals, i.e. a player must have played in
50% or more home-and away rounds; in an 18-round season, therefore, a player must have played at least 9 rounds.
