With great power the apostles bore witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. There was no needy person among them.” From the Acts of the Apostles Living the Easter experience was truly special for the initial Christian community. Imagine how they shared the story of their experience of the Risen Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Words as ‘power’, ‘witness’ and ‘favor’ mark that special time in the early church. The gospel calls the missionary disciples to the same witness of the same Christ, empowered by the same Spirit, and endowed with the same favor or grace. It was not a phenomenon only for first century Christians. The Easter experience we are living today calls us to become more aware of the gifts of the Spirit and grace, to bear witness, address the needs of those around us, and provide what gifts we have for those who need a deeper spiritual life, a community of believers. This season of the church year calls us to make the same Risen Christ present for ourselves and others. We find Him in our parishes, reflection groups and social gatherings.
