I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
March 30, 2015
Our Mission: Communicating Christ’s Love to everyone, everywhere; and our love for Him.
Director’s Note…
What a wonderful two days it was watching the children pedal their little legs for five minutes
around the Trike-A-Thon course. It was so delightful and if you were able to attend, I know you felt the
same. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. Also, thank you to those parents who
helped set up the gym for us both days. Again, we appreciate all you do for the children and the
preschool.
As we start Holy Week, the staff and I would like to wish you a wonderful Easter. As we reflect
upon Christ’s ultimate sacrifice for us, we are reminded of His resurrection and the eternal life promised to
us in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should
not perish but have eternal life.”
Easter blessings to you!! He is Risen, He is Risen indeed!!!

This Week…in Jesus time
Theme: Easter (Luke 24:1-12)
Discovery Point: Jesus died for our sins. He rose from the dead. Because of Jesus we will live in heaven
forever.
Bible Words to Remember:  He is not here; He has risen! Luke 24:6
Think About It: Read the Easter story in Matthew 28:1-10 and Luke 24:1-12. Because of Jesus, you are now
Easter people! Christ’s victory defines our lives as we have new in Him now and eternally!
Parent’s Application: The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the central fact of Christian history. On it,
the church is built; without it, there would be no Christian church today. Jesus’ resurrection is unique.
Other religions have strong ethical systems, concepts about paradise and afterlife, and various Holy
Scriptures. Only Christianity has a God who became human, literally died for his people, and was raised
again in power and glory to rule his church forever.
Why is the resurrection so important? (1) Because Christ was raised from the dead, we know that
the kingdom of heaven has broken into earth’s history. Our world is now headed for redemption, not
disaster. God’s mighty power is at work destroying sin, creating new lives, and preparing us for Jesus’
second coming. (2) Because of the resurrection, we know that death has been conquered, and we too will
be raised from the dead to live forever with Christ. (3) The resurrection gives authority to the church’s
witness in the world. Look at the early evangelistic sermons in the book of Acts: the apostles’ most
important message was the proclamation that Jesus Christ had been raised from the dead! (4) The
resurrection gives meaning to the church’s regular feast, the Lord’s Supper. Like the disciples on the
Emmaus Road, we break bread with our risen Lord, who comes in power to save us. (5) The resurrection
helps us find meaning even in great tragedy. No matter what happens to us as we walk with the Lord, the
resurrection gives us hope for the future. (6) The resurrection assures us that Christ is alive and ruling his
kingdom. He is not legend; he is alive and real. (7) God’s power that brought Jesus back from the dead is
available to us so that we can live for him in an evil world.
Christians can look very different from one another, and they can hold widely varying beliefs about
politics, life-style, and even theology. But one central belief unites and inspires all true Christians – Jesus
Christ rose from the dead!

Hearts for Jesus
The purpose of this year's Hearts for Jesus ministry is to raise prayer support and financial support for our
brothers and sisters in the Evangelical Lutheran Church Cambodia (ELCC) and their ministry of building
a fourth (4th) Garuna Christian School. Garuna means grace, mercy, and compassion in the Thai and Khmer
languages. Cambodia has a population of over 14 million people but less than 2% of the population is
Christian. This ministry project helps share the grace of Jesus with children and their families by funding the
building of a new Garuna Christian School (GCS). This GCS will offer educational and Biblical instruction to
over 100 children in grades one through six. The school building will also house a congregation of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cambodia.

NEGU SERVICE PROJECT
In our elementary school, we have a group of students that coordinate service projects. They have picked
NEGU for their next project. NEGU is an organization founded by Jessie Rees while she had brain cancer.
Jessie created her fun-filled JoyJars® as a way to send hope and joy to her peers fighting cancer. Jessie
knew that fighting cancer made you feel lonely and limited. She also knew “love” stuffed in a jar was a
great remedy. Jessie personally sent over 3,000 JoyJars to kids during her fight. Over 80,000 JoyJars have
been stuffed and sent to courageous kids worldwide. Each grade has been asked to bring items to help fill
the JoyJars. Preschool is being asked to bring small toys, i.e; slinkys, dominoes, lego minis, baby toys, soft
books, etc. for children infant to 10 years of age (please no stuffed animals). The jars are only 6 inches tall
so please make sure the toy is small enough. In addition, they are asking for knit beanies for the children.
All items need to be turned in by the week of April 13.
SHAKE, RAFFLE, AND ROLL
Want a fun night out while helping to raise funds for our school? PTL is proud to host the Shake, Raffle,
and Roll fundraiser at The Wine Artist in Lake Forest. There will be appetizers, sweet treats, live Jazz music,
silent auction, raffle items, and more. A flyer was sent home this past week.
