Position Purpose
To lift the presence of netball in the ACT business community and
maximise opportunities for revenue.
ORGANISATIONAL OVERVIEW
Netball ACT is the governing body for Netball in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
Currently there are five Districts affiliated with Netball ACT: Arawang, Belconnen, Canberra, South
Canberra and Tuggeranong
Netball ACT is responsible for developing and managing netball in the ACT, providing participation
opportunities for athletes, coaches, umpires, officials and administrators as well as pathways from
grassroots to high performance.
Netball ACT manages the ACT Netball Centre at Southwell Park, Lyneham. The facility is home to the
Netball ACT office as well as four indoor netball courts, change room, meeting rooms, canteen,
crèche and store rooms.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Sponsorship Sales and Servicing

Implement Netball ACT’s sponsorship strategy aimed at maximising revenue for the Association

Generate sponsorship leads and business opportunities with a focus on identifying, evaluating
and making contact with potential sponsors

Prepare and distribute sponsorship proposals, negotiate partnerships, maintain a database of
potential and existing sponsor contacts and keep accurate records of sponsors approached and
the outcome

Manage sponsor relations by identifying new commercial opportunities for existing and
potential sponsors, facilitating sponsorship deliverables and acting as the first point of contact
for planning and implementation of all sponsor activities
Marketing, Communications and Brand Development

Conduct market research and competitive analysis to understand Netball ACT’s membership
demographics and competitive advantage

Utilising current market segmentation research, identify new and existing products and assist
key personal in formulating strategies to penetrate new markets

In conjunction with key personal, develop and manage content for Netball ACT’s social media
platforms, website and newsletters that enhance Netball ACT’s image and exposure and
provide leverage to existing and potential sponsors

Manage Netball ACT’s brand ensuring its consistent application across the Associations
programs, projects and collateral
Strategy and Administration

In conjunction with the General Manager, set Netball ACT sponsorship targets and provide
input into commercial strategies

Represent Netball ACT on the Netball Australia Commercial Working Group

Engage with other members of staff to integrate and support commercial strategies across the
whole business

Provide reports for all internal and external stakeholder as required
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Achieve Netball ACT’s sponsorship revenue targets developed in conjunction with the General
Manager

Retention rate of Netball ACT’s current and future sponsors

Quantity of proposals prepared, presented and converted to partnerships

Preparation, implementation and management of Netball ACT’s Properties Matrix and Rate
Card

Preparation, publishing and reach of communications content that support sponsorship

Meet all reporting requirements for all internal and external stakeholder
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential

Technical knowledge and/or experience in sponsorship sales and servicing

Ability to develop creative and innovative approaches to partnership activations

Energetic and outgoing personality that supports your ability to build effective relationships

Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills

An ability to work independently without supervision and as part of a team
Desirable

Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Sports Management or another relevant discipline

Experience in conducting and analysing market research to form sales strategies

Knowledge of, and passion for the sport of netball
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Terms
The position of Sponsorship and Marketing Coordinator will be offered on a full time contract basis
until 31 December 2016 with the view to extend dependant on meeting the agreed KPI’s. Netball
ACT’s terms of employment are identified in the Netball ACT Staff Handbook and Working
Guidelines.
Remuneration
The position’s remuneration is as per stated in the position scope. An incentive will be paid in the
form of a 10% commission on all cash sponsorship achieved above the agreed base. A review of the
remuneration may be considered at the time of the employees performance review if requested by
the General Manager or incumbent.
Hours of Work
As a full time position, the role of Sponsorship and Marketing Coordinator will be for 38 hours per
week. The nature of the position requires out of hours work, some domestic travel and periods of
extended work.
Reviews
Performance appraisals against the identified job responsibilities will be carried out by Netball ACT
at agreed intervals
