Sunny Buck Kids Q Entry Form

Welcome to the Sunny Buck Kids Q Competition for kids from 7–15 years of age. Below is basic information
and a Team Entry Form, which must be submitted no later than June 1, 2015. A limited number of team
entries, per age group, will be accepted, and applications received after June 1st will be returned. To
assure we have everything needed for each team, on-site registration is NOT available for this event.
Since this is a youth BBQ competition, please review all information with an adult to make sure everyone
understands all the rules and procedures completely before entering.
1. Teams will consist of a Chief cook and 1 Assistant Cook only in the appropriate age group.
2. Check-in for teams (and 1 permitted adult per team) will be at the main pavilion in Jawbone Park
begins at 4:00 PM – teams should be checked in NO LATER THAN 5:00 PM. Name tags for Chief Cook,
Assistant Cook, and designated adult will be issued.
3. A mandatory cook’s meeting will be held at 5:30 PM (Please meet at the check-in area). ALL cooks and
their designated adult helper must attend the Cook’s Meeting, which will also include a Safety Briefing. Attendance will be taken, and teams (with their designated adult helper) who do not attend this
meeting will not be allowed to compete in the event.
4. Teams will be assigned their cooking area, and provided competition meats, plastic food service gloves,
and turn-in boxes during the Cook’s meeting. Meat must be submitted in the numbered turn-in boxes
only. No garnish will be provided, but there are no rules for garnish. All teams will participate in the
official “lighting of the grills” shortly after this meeting.
5. One adult helper is permitted per team, however, the team (children) must do all the preparation,
cooking, and presentation / turn-in to the judges “unassisted”. If he/she are unable to do all of these,
they should not enter this event. Adult helper may assist with lighting of the grill and must be present
the entire time of the event, but may not assist in any of the cooking processes.
6. Teams may use their own utensils, seasonings and sauces. Plastic food service gloves must be used
while handling meat.
7. Judging will be the same as the Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) rules based on 1) appearance, 2) texture, and 3) taste. A scoring system of 1–9 will be used with 1 being the lowest and nine being the
highest score.
8. Six(6) meat portions must be submitted in the numbered box provided at the cook’s meeting,and
turned in at the designated time stated at the meeting with the standard 5 minute before and 5 minutes after time window. Late entries will be disqualified.
9. Trophies, ribbons, and/or cash prizes will be handed out at the Awards Ceremony at 8:00 PM at the
main pavilion at Jawbone Park along with the other KCBS contest awards.

successors, and assigns, for any and all injuries suffered by me, my team or my guests. Further, I hereby grant full permission to Almost Heaven BBQ Bash, Inc. aka Almost Heaven BBQ Bash, City of Buckhannon, WV, Buckhannon Rotary Club, Rotary
International, The Rotary Foundation and the KCBS, their representatives and/ or agents authorized by them, to use any
photographs, video tapes, motion pictures, recordings and any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose. I agree
to the terms of the Waiver of Liability, and I will abide by the rules of the 2015 Competitor Packet, and the rules of the KCBS.
This event is based on a first come basis. However, Almost Heaven BBQ Bash, Inc. reserves the final right of refusal to any
and all teams. There is no “Rainy Day schedule for this event, and if required the event may be canceled in whole or in part
by Almost Heaven BBQ Bash, Inc without prior notice, with no cash refunds, however we will give free entry to the following
year’s event.. I have read the rules and regulations of the KCBS and Almost Heaven BBQ Bash, Inc.
