New facilities unveiled Our Year 7 students were very pleased to find their new science laboratories, music rooms and sports facilities had been completed over the holiday. We are also very excited about this in the primary school because we will be able to access these superb spaces too. This week, the school council went over to check them out for themselves! Astroturf Year 1 started their Mother Nature topic off this week with a visit to the park Sports hall Dance studio Gym Music room Science lecture theatre Parent information: Uniform: Thank you so much for your excellent efforts in smartening up your child’s uniform over the holidays. Nearly all of the children are now in the correct uniform - which as you know we take very seriously at AJK. I just want to make sure you are all clear that summer dresses are not part of our uniform policy. In hot weather girls can wear short sleeved shirts and a skirt without tights (Shekinah is modelling this beautifully). Mr Collins and I have also decided that boys can wear school shorts for the summer months. These can be purchased from Lyons - a uniform shop on the Hertford Road. On hot days we will also let children remove their ties and undo their top buttons - but they must come to school with their ties on and top buttons done up. Next week I will be writing a letter to you all about the changes we have decided to make with regards to our uniform seller from September 2015. Book donations: We are creating quiet reading corners in both of our playgrounds. If you have any children’s books at home that you would like to donate please send them in to Miss Edwards. All donations greatly received! Thank you in advance. Pupil Premium Funding: Please do let Miss Edwards know if your circumstances have changed and you think your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium funding. We allocate this money to reduce the cost of school trips for Pupil Premium funded pupils and have planned extra interventions or enrichment activities for them in school. Sainsbury’s vouchers: Thank you to everyone who has already sent in vouchers. We’re still collecting so please keep shopping in Sainsbury's when you can. We will be able to buy lots more sports equipment for the children if you do! Important dates: Thursday 30th April at 8.30am: Parent workshop—helping to develop your child’s talking at home.
