Bemus Bay Pops Inc. – The Choice: Rules, Regulations Terms Preliminary Auditions: Each contestant will complete an entry form and submit to an official. The contestant will perform ACAPELLA 3060 seconds of a prepared song in front of the first panel of judging officials. *Each contestant will be notified by JUNE 1ST in regards to moving th one to the Blind Auditions occurring on JULY 6 . ( *The Choice will not be responsible for lack of notification due to incorrect contact information provided by the contestant) Requirements for participation in the preliminary auditions consist of ∙ Contestant (Contestants who are unable to be present for the preliminary audition will be handled at “The Choice’s” discretion) at least the age of 18. ∙ Entry Form ∙ Photo Id ∙ 3060 seconds of a prepared song Competition Rules and Guidelines Blind Auditions: Individuals who have been informed that they have been invited to the Blind Auditions will all perform on July 6th and 13th. It is imperative that all contestants who would like to participate in in the competition are present for the Blind Auditions. This is your chance to chosen by a judge and on a team! For the Blind Auditions, contestants will sing a verse and a chorus (approx. 90 secs). During the performance, the 4 judges have the opportunity to turn their chairs around. If a judge(s) turns their chair around the singer will continue on to the next round and placed on said judge’s team. For multiple requests from judges, the contestant will be allowed to choose the team they would like to join. Battle Rounds: Next, Contestants will compete in one Battle Round in order to move on to the knockout rounds. Weekly, two team judges will pair contestants from the same team to battle against each other. The team judge will decide to the best of their ability to divide the song between contestants considering talent and ability. The objective of this round is to effectively sing and fight for advancement against their team member. Judges will eliminate the weakest contestant out of the two singing. Also in addition to this elimination one battle duo will be eliminated. Knockout Rounds: During this round, for two weeks, contestants will compete individually with elimination being solely in the control of the audience. The first week of knockout rounds contestants will perform one song, chosen by the judges. The second week, two song selections, one to be chosen by the judge and the other by the contestant. Final Show: The remaining 3 contestants on this final night will perform the best songs showcasing their talent and how they have grown throughout the show period. The two songs will consist of Judge’s Choice and Contestant’s Choice. The first elimination of the night will follow the judge’s choice. Both eliminations of the night will be decided by the audience at the show. This is the only night that the Bemus Bay Pop will be providing background music for contestants Song Selections: At the beginning of each week song selections for each contestant will be assigned before their performance the following week. For the exclusive points in the competition where the contestant is allowed to choose their own song, performers will be entered into a random order system to select a song from the master list. When providing songs for contestants, judges to the best of their ability will assigning selections from the master list. Contestants will meet at least once a week with their judge to go over their selection and receive guidance and suggestions to make the performance worthy of successful competition. Ultimately it is up to the performer to take direction and advance throughout the competition. Before each show contestants will have the ability to briefly sound check their selections and receive additional directions for the performance of the night. Unforeseen Issues: In the event that during the battle rounds a contestant cannot be present, they will forfeit their chance in continuing through the competition. The opposing contestant will still perform by themselves treating the performance as a solo. The same process in elimination for a battle round applies. In the event that the weather does not allow a show for the week, the missed show will be combined with the next dated show. Disclaimer: Failure to read the rules and above with understanding will result in a disqualification. If at any point a contestant does not understand they should refer to this document or a producer. Inquiries will be dealt with on a case to case basis and will be determined by the producer’s best judgment of the matter. Failure to be present for any part of the competition, where competing is necessary, will result in an automatic disqualification. This includes: Transportation, Death, Job duties, and other personal matters.
