Lisa has been a member of our staff as Faith Formation Secretary for the past seven years and was the St. Patrick Site Administrator for the Faith Formation Program. Lisa also helped on the Blessed Trinity St. Patrick staff with Baptism and Funeral paperwork as well as putting together many databases and reports for many ministries. We will miss Lisa’s organizational skills, but mostly Lisa’s pleasant attitude and humor! I know you will all want to wish Lisa well as she accepts a full time job in Owego at the Tioga Chamber of Commerce. Thank you to the men in the kitchen for serving the meal so the ladies could relax and enjoy one another's company. The St. Margaret Mary Altar & Rosary, the Welcome Committee, and this year's Journey Bible Study group were also crucial to the success as they cooked, chopped, mixed, and baked! Many thanks! A Bishop Matano Assignment Fr. Valenti has permission from the Bishop to inform the parishioners of Blessed Trinity and St. Patrick Parishes that the he has been reappointment to Tioga County for another year. Bishop Matano agreed that the timing of this announcement was deemed necessary given the extraordinary amount of time that parishioners had to wait last year for his appointment. Knowing that Fr. Valenti would be in Europe from the next 2 weeks was another motive for the special timing of this announcement. No other parish assignments are public at this time. Blessed Trinity & St. Patrick Book Discussion Group Joe Phillips, Grand Knight, Blessed Trinity Council 251 Our next book provided by the Finger Lakes Library System is titled The Dead Beat by Marilyn Johnson. We will meet on Wednesday, May 20th at 2:30 in the McAuley Center. Copies of the book are available at the McAuley with the book club kit. The summary of this book from Harper Collins Publishers: "The New York Times comes each morning and never fails to deliver news of the important dead. Every day is new; every day is fraught with significance. I arrange my cup of tea, prop up my slippers. Obituaries are history as it is happening. Whose time am I living in? Was he a success or a failure, lucky or doomed, older than I am or younger? Did she know how to live? I shake out the pages. Tell me the secret of a good life! Where else can you celebrate the life of the pharmacist who moonlighted as a spy, the genius behind Sea Monkeys , the school lunch lady who spent her evenings as ballroom hostess? No wonder so many readers skip the news and the sports and go directly to the obituary page. The Dead Beat is the story of how these stories get told." All are welcome! Diocesan Missions Sunday Today is Diocesan Missions Sunday honoring this year the Sisters of Mercy’s fifty years of presence in Chile. We also acknowledge the missionary efforts of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Brazil. We are called to take part in the missionary work of the Church. We may not all have to move to another town or city to do so, but impelled by the Holy Spirit, each one of us is to move beyond our daily concerns, important as they are, to help others live in the faith that sustains us. Bishop Salvatore Matano calls us to a responsible sharing in the missionary works of the Diocese of Rochester. No diocese is truly a diocese unless it extends beyond its own borders and allows itself to be touched by the presence of other churches. May we share the gift of faith today by helping our missionary friends with our prayers and a generous gift. In this year of Consecrated Life may God continue to bless these women in Consecrated and strengthen their commitment to follow Jesus. Daily Prayer of the Month Holy Spirit, during this month of Pentecost and each day of the year, we pray that with your guidance, we will seek the Father's Will for us each morning. Holy Spirit, we pray that you inspire us as you inspired the disciples, to carry out His Will as we receive it daily. By striving to do His Will, we hope to fulfill our Confirmation duties to "spread and defend the faith by word and deed". Amen. Please pray this prayer along with our Prayer Partners today and throughout this month. If you have a suggestion for prayer intention please let us know at [email protected] 5 Soap for Hope Collection for TCRM NEW HOURS FOR BLESSED TRINITY AND ST.
