THIS WEEK: Club Assembly focussed on membership - Phill Isaacs has offered to chair,
what is hoped to be, lively discussion with some creative ideas and fresh, lateral thinking!
LAST WEEK: With apologies from Helen A, Rod Tout, Tom
Brownjohn & Jenny H, we heard a presentation from Judy
Quodling, who in ‘retirement mode’, is now volunteering as an
Ambassador for the National Stroke Foundation.
Statistics show that one in
six Australians will suffer a
stroke in their lifetime and
the Foundation is focussed
on publicising what can be
done to firstly reduce the risk factors. Then, Judy highlighted the
symptoms that indicate a stroke is occurring and what can be
done to minimise the effect. She asked all to memorise FAST.
F(ace) which often droops, A(rms) can they lift both, S(peech) is it
slurred?, T(ime) is critical for seeking treatment. Call 000 fast!
SATURDAY MORNING was truly a Rotary morning at Woolworths and BigW in Katoomba. Our Club
held it’s regular monthly Sausage Sizzle that was again so very popular on the coolish morning and
generated more dollars for our Service Account. Central Blue Rotary displayed a ShelterBox inside the
store to display this extraordinary Rotary initiative and to attract donations towards assisting Vanuatu in
recovering from the devastating results of Cyclone Pam. The accompanying photo’s (thank you, Michael
Small) show the colourful displays that attracted much attention. Incidentally, that’s Bob Reid on the left
not
the
one
who
many

was
in
the
Superman
costume!
DID YOU HEAR that Woolworths & Coles are considering a joint venture named BigWC.
NO BREAKFAST MEETING NEXT WEEK - Transferred to Interplast Dinner at TAFE on Wednesday

With incoming President Michael Small’s new Board, we are off to The King’s School over the weekend to experience
the vitality and enthusiasm of District Assembly with some wonderful presenters. It augers well for the coming year and
we will outline some of the highlights on Tuesday morning. Current board members are reminded of this month’s meeting on Monday afternoon at Mountain Heritage.
Yours in Rotary -
Joan
