BPA Students put BOLD "on the map" at State
Convention!
BPA students: Daniel Coughlin, Chris McRell, and Amanda
Tersteeg competed at the Minnesota State Business
Professionals of America Convention from March 12-14. Also,
in attendance were Desirae Buchanan, Megan Nolting,
Whitney Trongard, and McKenna Hillenbrand, and Sheryl
Petersen, Advisor.
Winning the TRIPLE Trophies had heads turning and the
announcer saying, "And another 1st place win by BOLD," as
Daniel Coughlin showed his knowledge and mastery in
computer technology with 1st place qualifications in
Information Technology Concepts, PC Servicing and
Troubleshooting, and Network Administration using Microsoft.
Daniel has many years of working with technology, most
recently with Tech Director Neil Kaufenberg, and with the City
of Olivia.
Daniel Coughlin will now compete at the BPA National
Leadership Convention in Anaheim, California, May 6-10.
Chris McRell and Amanda Tersteeg had an outstanding
presentation and qualified as finalists (in the top half of 16
teams). They received Medallions and a plaque in Small
Business Management Team competition.
BPA, Business Professionals of America, is in its second active
year at BOLD for students in grades 9-12. We meet every
Thursday during lunch. The mission of BPA is to contribute to
the preparation of a world-class workforce through the
advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and
technological skills. There are 59 competitive events ranging
from personal finance, computer technology, medical, legal,
speech, interview, graphic design, information technology, and
business management. Only the top two winners in the event
qualify for advancement in competitions.
I want to thank the students for their achievements and
express my appreciation to Mr. Dotson, Mr. Gauer, and School
Board in supporting the BPA students.
