Warwickshire 2015 County Champs Week 1
Week one of the Warwickshire Championships saw
three Boldmere swimmers crowned as County Champion and two as Junior Champion. In total Boldmere
notched up 42 Championship, Age Group and Relay
medals - 16 Gold’s, 18 Silver and 8 Bronze - 27
finalists and overall setting 101 Long Course PBs with
2 new Long Course Relay Club Record.
Luke Davies retained his 100m Breaststroke County
Champion title winning the final in a time of 1.05.99
ahead of Jake Dixon who took the silver. In the age
group finals Oliver Carless claimed the gold medal in
the 10/11 age group with Ellis Taylor second while
William Cooper also won silver in 12 year age group.
The second County title went to Ben Stanford in the
50m Freestyle. As a 16 year old he also won the
Junior County title. Four Boldmere lads made the final
with Ben top of the tree in a time of 25.25 ahead of
Steve Wilson 2nd, Joey Stanger 6th and Ben Campbell 7th. Leo Karski won silver in the 13/14 age group
in a time of 28.54.

Junior County title.
The girls 400IM event saw a one two for Lily Wood
and Alex Bartley taking gold and silver in the 12/13
age group while Kate Davies won Championship
bronze for the 3rd fastest time overall. Tully Kearney’s
6th place time of 5.25.88 would have been a S10
British record as well as a European and World record
time. However, as the championships were not an IPC
registered event they unfortunately will not be eligible
for ratification.
In the girls 100m Fly event eight Boldmere swimmer
reached the finals. There was another Championship
medal in the 15+ final with Rachel Wilson setting a
new PB in a time of 1.05.46 to take silver ahead of
Morgan Harlow 6th and Lauren Wilson 7th. Nadya
Sterling (10/11) stormed to gold as did Lily Wood in
the 13 Yr final with Alex Bartley in 6th place. Gerda
Vasiliauskaite (12) and Anya Mee (14) were 6th and
8th in their respective finals.
In the 1500m Freestyle 18 Year old S10 Para
swimmer Tully Kearney set a new club record with
her 18.45.92 time on the way to winning the County
title while her 800m split time of 9.44.75 was an
unofficial S10 British Record. Ellen Ratcliffe finished
second for the silver medal, as did Joey Stanger in
the Open boys race. Gold went to Leo Karski in the
13/14 category.
Twelve year old Erin Davies showed her class in the
200m Breaststroke winning the 10/12 age group by
a margin of some 14 seconds in a PB time of 2.56.83
– ranking her 4th fastest in the UK. Gerda was second
for the silver medal. Lily Wood won her second gold
of the day in the 13/14 age group in a PB time of
2.51.74
In the boys 100m Fly finals five more medals were
won; Oliver Carless (10/11) bronze, Acer Woolley (11)
silver, James Goodwin (13) bronze and finally Jake
Dixon and Luke Davies (15+) Championship silver
Erin swooped yet another gold in 10/12 200m Freestyle with a 4 second PB time of 2.24.55 while Alex
Bartley claimed the bronze in the 13/14 age group.
In the Backstroke events Leo Karski touched first for

gold in the 13/14 200m distance while Acer Woolley
picked up his second silver of the day in the 10/12
age group. In the girls 10/12 shorter 50m sprint event
Gerda set a PB time of 36.66 to take silver and EdenJoy Light qualified for the 15+ final finishing 5th.
During week one there were five relay events and it
was five more medals.
First up were the 10/12 girls 4 x 50 Freestyle quartet
of Abbey Turnbull, Gerda, Erin and Nadya who
stormed to gold with anchor leg Nadya Sterling’s split
an impressive sub 30 time of 29.61.
A second relay gold came from the boys 13/15 4 x
50m Medley team of Leo (Back) Tom Bloor (Breast),
Matt Price (Fly) and Archie Langston (Free) touching
the pads by a whopping 11 second clear margin.
In the girls 13/15 4 x 50m Medley relay Anya Mee,
Georgina Dolan, Eden-Joy Light and Kate Davies
seemed destined for bronze until Kate’s fantastic
anchor leg split of 28.61 earned them the silver by
just 0.06 of a second.
In the 4 x 200 Free the Boys Open age group foursome of Steve Wilson, Jake Dixon, Luke Davies and
Joey Stanger were edged into silver place.
Finally it was another silver medal for the girls Open
4 x 100m Medley team of Lily Wood, Emily Gordon,
Rachel Wilson and Alex Dolan.
