Calabash Elks PRESS RELEASE Youth Programs Committee Benevolent and Protective Order of ELKs ~ Lodge 2679 937 Carter Drive, Calabash, NC 28467 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE “Town of Calabash & Local Elks Lodge Share in Proclamation” May 1 – 7, 2015 Proclaimed as “Youth Week” By Michael Trescak On April 14, 2015, Mary Louise Knight, Mayor, and the Board of Commissioners, Town of Calabash, North Carolina, officially “Proclaimed” the week of May 1st through May 7th, 2015 as “Youth Week.” The Proclamation was done in recognition of the Calabash Elks Lodge’s many continued community outreach programs, specifically those events which benefit our local youth. Accordingly, on Sunday, May 24, 2015, the Lodge’s Youth Programs Coordinator, Ms. Juanita Adams, will be heading up a team of Elks who will be taking more than 20 residents of the Boys & Girls Home located in Lake Waccamaw NC, to Myrtle Beach for a Pelican’s Minor League Baseball Game, - Picnic, and – Fireworks show. The Calabash Elks Lodge, located at 937 Carter Drive, in Calabash, North Carolina, has been a local landmark of the area since 1984. With over 700 members, the lodge has become a cornerstone of the local community for the past 30 years. The Lodge has generously provided for many youth programs and events such as: Helping with funding for Summer Camp for Special Needs Children; Halloween and Christmas Parties for local disadvantaged children; The purchase of Playground Equipment for the Calabash Town Park; Participation in the Elks National “Hoop Shoot” Basketball event; and - Providing College Scholarship Funds to help local teens start their lives with a College Education.
