A Note from the Executive Director
Christy Andrews
With the winter weather behind us, the Cancer Support
Community Atlanta is celebrating spring with an extraordinary calendar full of classes and events. As always, our
March/April “Community” calendar has something for
everyone--a variety of support groups, stress reduction
classes, education programs, nutrition seminars and
demonstrations, and social activities. Sign up today for
our annual Spaghetti Dinner...it fills up fast and is always a
great event!
Try a stress reduction class you’ve never attended before, or attend a
fantastic cooking demo. Wherever you find yourself at the Cancer Support Community
Atlanta, you’ll be greeted with new friends who can’t wait to welcome you to CSC Atlanta. As we’ve heard so often... “Walking into CSC Atlanta is like walking into a hug!”
We look forward to seeing you soon--
Chastain Chase
This spring we hope you’ll join us as we raise funds to help
support the Cancer Support Community Atlanta. The
Chastain Chase 5K and 1 mile walk/run is a great event that
features a beautiful winding course through one of Atlanta’s
most celebrated areas--Chastain Park. Please let your
friends and family know that they can support the free programs offered at CSC Atlanta
by getting involved in the Chastain Chase as a runner, walker, or donor. Sponsorships
are still available, so if you know of a company that might be interested in getting involved, please let them know about this opportunity to support our organization.
If you are a regular attendee at CSC Atlanta, we hope you’ll encourage your friends
from CSC Atlanta to create your own team for the Chastain Chase. We’ll have wonderful treats from our partner, The Fresh Market, and you’ll see lots of familiar faces supporting CSC Atlanta. Or, simply make a donation to the Chastain Chase 5K and enjoy
the event through photos we’ll post online.
Look for registration forms around CSC Atlanta, or register online at www.cscatlanta.
org.
Thank you for supporting the 2015 Chastain Chase!

Stress Reduction
Trouble With Sleep? Yoga
Techniques to the Rescue!
Stretch and Strengthen Body, Bones
and Brain with Tai Chi
Many of you have problems either falling asleep or staying asleep. Medications
seem to have limitations and side effects.
Why not empower yourself? You can learn
simple practices to unwind your body and
calm your mind, so you can feel more rested
throughout your day. You can apply these
practices without even leaving your bed.
Ellen Sichel, E-RYT500.
Bone Stretching Qi Gong is a powerful
sequence of exercises designed to open,
stretch and strengthen the kidneys, joints,
tendons, ligaments and bones. In Chinese
medicine the kidneys are considered to be
the primary holders of our energy and life
force. They are responsible for the health
of the central nervous system (brain and
spinal column), the teeth, hearing, bones,
thyroid and reproductive system as well
as the urinary system. Bone Stretching Qi
Gong benefits all of these systems and is
also highly recommended for those with
osteoporosis or osteopenia. Led by Corinne
Chaves.
