We are now offering an Esophageal Support Group. This group will bring people together who have deen diagnosed with this site specific cancer. If you have, or know someone who has, this diagnosis we would love for you to join us here starting in May. Ingredients: 3 cups fresh or frozen purple hull peas 1 bay leaf 3 sprigs of fresh thyme Exercise 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil 1 cup chopped onion 1 small red bell pepper, chopped 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic, minced ½ teaspoon sea salt ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 2 scallions, thinly sliced 3 cups cooked rice Instructions: 1. Place peas, bay leaf and thyme sprigs in a pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and then gently simmer until the peas are soft, about 20 minutes. 2. Meanwhile, heat oil in a medium saute pan. Add onion and celery; sauté for about 5 minutes. Add red bell pepper; sauté for an additional 3-5 minutes. Add garlic; sauté for 30 seconds. It was developed to offer anyone diagnosed with cancer the opportunity to routinely be screened for social and emotional distress. We are the Atlanta affiliate of a national organization that is acclaimed for our professionally led programs. All programs are evidence based and empower people to face cancer armed with vital information, a network of supportive friends who understand their journey, and a healthy spirit to face what will lie ahead. If you are new to the community, we require that you attend a New Member Orientation meeting. These meetings are open to adults with cancer and their family and friends. There will be a tour and overview of the entire program. Mondays at 10am; Thursdays at 6pm. RSVP. Cancer Transitions Cancer Transitions is a free 3 hour, six-week long, series designed to help cancer survivors make the transition from active treatment to post-treatment care. It is specifically for people who have completed their cancer treatments at least two weeks prior to the start of the program and are no more than two years post-treatment.This series requires a phone interview prior to registration. We are the Atlanta affiliate of a national organization that is acclaimed for our professionally led programs. All programs are evidence based and empower people to face cancer armed with vital information, a network of supportive friends who understand their journey, and a healthy spirit to face what will lie ahead. Northside-Forsyth: 1200 Northside Forsyth Dr., Cumming, GA 30041 All Programs (except for the Breast Cancer Group) are held on Thursdays in the Main Hospital - 3rd Floor, Education Room “F”. Support: If you are new to the community, we require that you attend a New Member Orientation meeting. These meetings are open to adults with cancer and their family and friends. There will be a tour and overview of the entire program. Thursday, 12:00-12:30pm. RSVP. Weekly support group for patients and caregivers. Studies show correlations to improved immune function, reduced stress and tension, improved digestion, improved bone density, and overall improvements in health. Excellent for all levels.
